What a crazy summer. Here, near Toulouse, we had temperatures over 30 degrees every day (that I can remember) from the end of May until this week. Last monday, our maximum temperature only reached 27deg !! That is a quarter of the year above 30 degrees ..... too hot for me to run.
I've tried getting out and doing a few short runs, but it wasn't easy. I've always tried to obtain at least "one positive" from every run. Last sunday, I had a very challenging run. I felt heavy, slow and demotivated.
I did relish the smell of the poplars down by the stream, but not much else.
On my return, I discovered a pair of child's sunglasses on the path. I remembered having passed a lady pushing a pushchair. I could just see her across the field, so I shouted and waved. The sunglasses were indeed her daughter's.
......... so "one positive", at least I was able to help out someone else.

So nice that you returned those sunglasses you found on that path to the owner.
It has been a very long and hot summer in the UK as well, in July many parts of England had temperatures over 38C/100F, an all time record of 40C/104F was reached in Lincolnshire, even in Scotland where I live there were record breaking high temperatures, certainly not good for running, hopefully now that it is Autumn runners will have cooler weather to run.
