Quick run report of a short recovery run with Coach Bennett this morning! And I ran with my new glasses, that I’d picked up yesterday.
They are trifocals, so now I can see those leaves at the edge of the field, looking down I can see every stone, and holding my phone to take a picture I don’t have to lift my glasses anymore! Brilliant! 👓
I didn’t think they would make a huge difference to my running, but they definitely do. So the run was extra special, leaves clear and crisp, as was the air which had been cleaned by some rain hours before. It was cool, almost too cool for my hands. But that was actually refreshing, after our period of hot weather.
I kept the run as short as it was planned, 25min running , and 5 + 5 min walking for warmup and cool-down. So I double backed halfway through my usual route, avoiding my usual hill.
Thus an unusual shorter run for me, but perfect after yesterday’s rather intensive “Dracula’s 199 steps” of my cross-training, rowing session. 🧛♂️ 🪜 🚣🏼♂️
As a note aside, “Dracula’s 199 steps” sounded an intriguing rowing challenge, but boy was it intensive! 🥵 Row 199 meters as fast as you can (sprint), recover for 60 seconds (slow or no rowing), repeat 10 times! Uff!
Anyway, so the short run this morning felt really like recovery.
Rather than continuing on my 2-3 runs/week, I can see myself in the coming years getting to running 4-5 times a week, including these short recovery runs (and remembering the 7 min run that Coach Bennett does). But not yet. It’s still 2-3 runs per week, possibly the one-off week of 4 runs, for now.
Happy running, everyone!
