My watch was very clever and tracked most things I wanted but i’ve been looking at the one with the very bright screen, all pretty, so in the end I succumbed and yesterday there she was, a new Mrs Garmin all bright and shiny.
Does she play music? yes of course and it took hours to get that bitset up.
Does she make phone calls? yes she does and she phoned all sorts of random people late yesterday evening, get me apologising to my wrist.
Does she track runs? yes of course so we went out after work to have a little run, I’ve been off with an injured knee a couple of weeks, but she performed well and my k ee held up well.
A day buried in health and safety paperwork and audits, and I came home tired but I’m determined to get my moneys worth, so off we went to the river to walk.
Does she track walks? yes she does and very well too.
Does she take photos? nope, and my phone was at home.
So am I happy?? yup 😀
although my fitness age has gone up to 63 😂 and my health snapshot is so poor that I’ll be lucky to survive til bedtime 😂
But all in allIm thrilled and will be posting Mr Garmin off to Willows son who will be thrilled too
Run happy or rest well x

Oh yes I feel very guilty, but retirement is looming so while I’m still working we are both having the things we might not be able to afford in the future, that’s my excuse anyway, but still felt very bad to not wait until the last one broke. The only thing left to buy is super iphone each and then i can retire….. doubt I’ll bother with my wish list gaming laptop….. can’t work forever 😀
Forerunner 955 Solar. I'd outgrown the vivoactive 3 (which I'm keeping as a spare). My primary motivation was not worrying about battery life during a run. I'm hoping that by getting the bleeding edge now it'll last many years.
The maps have been helpful during recent runs and walks, now I've got used to how they work.
It's so bleeding edge that there are some software bugs. Nothing that breaks normal use, but there are some things you can do which cause it to crash.
That said, I had some crashes in normal use on the va3 when I got it two years ago, and that had been out for a couple of years at that time.
Thank you, I was quite worried about the knee for a while there, but yes almost back to normal. The watch? ah yes an extravagance but something I’ve wanted for months
Lovely shiny new watch Sola! I agree, the more tech, the more little things to go wrong, while you get used to it, but I’m sure you’ll get get the hang. 😀 I’ve already decided what Santa might like to bring me, so I’ll be spending January working mine out too (assuming Santa is listening! 🙏🏻)
My old Garmin will go weight lifting so happy i’m sure, it’s a fun watch, yesterday it said i was so unhealthy i probably wouldn’t make it to the end of the day, luckily i’ve perked up a bit today and will probably live a while yet, i’m not going anywhere until I’ve run a HM because i know i can 😂
They can 😀 I’m loving it, Willow phoned me at work when i’d got my hands full and phone in bag so i just shouted at my watch and we had a good connection 😂
Ooh, lovely! Sorry your knee has been so painful, fingers crossed for no more nasty surprises for a while 🤞 I'm seriously tempted by the new garmins (my squareshaped one is fine but it digs into me a bit - not designed for small wrists!) - but since I'm still stuck on week 2-3 it's hardly worth it yet.
Garmins keep getting better, a tip about one with music though, I use NRC runs a lot so have leggings and shorts with a thigh phone pocket so really didn’t need music on my watch, so if you are always going to take your phone…..and as i run the bluetooth from watch to headphones cuts in and out a bit sometimes, is better from phone
I like the smaller sized ones too
Knee is ok thanks, i’m on way for another MRI now and can’t work out why they are bothering to do another
