A good start to the week

Woke up this morning to clear skies after 8 hours of good sleep. We finally got our cat back from our son who's been looking after him since January and for once he (the cat, not my son) didn't wake us up all night, just slept contentedly next to my husband ❤

As I made coffee I realised the battery on my Garmin was on empty so this was a perfect excuse to take it easy. Did ankle exercises and warm ups slowly and thoroughly then, with 2 bars of charge on the watch, we set off.

Today's run was NRC's Slow Down 2 Speed Up with Coach B and Andy from Headspace. I haven't done a Headspace run in a while as for some reason I'd gone off the idea. I chose it because it was intervals. We've just been running 5ks recently and I was getting a bit bored with them. Today certainly put paid to that.

It's not an easy run - intervals at 10k, 5k, mile and 'best' pace - but the recovery periods get longer and the runs shorter as the effort increases. What was really useful was the reminder to concentrate on footfall, counting them if necessary, when the going got tough. The 33 minutes went by in a flash and we both finished with huge smiles, it's good to feel challenged and succeed. We were still a couple of km from home so ran there at an easy effort, getting to (yet another ;) ) 5k by the end of the run.

It's been a while since everything has slotted into place so well. I'm feeling energised and as if I could take on the world.

Better do some work now ;)

Happy Monday! Here's a picture of Mo ignoring me lol

That's a good run 👍 like you say, not easy but I did enjoy it. I'm very impressed you had the energy to extend it another couple of k's, well done! 💪👏👏 You've got a beautiful cat 😍

I love your cat! What a cutie. I guess that makes it easier to forgive him for being a big distraction!

That sounds like a great run. I really need to get on and investigate the NRC app. There seems to be so much good stuff on there. Enjoy your post run buzz!

Thank you, he's a character.I don't think I'd still be running without NRC, there's always another challenge!

I thought for a minute you’d got my cat 🐈‍⬛ then I looked across the room and he’s still here. I’ve not done that run, I can’t wait to be ok again and try different runs, at the moment just gentle running for a while is enough
