We are going into week 9 now. How is everyone getting on? This week we will be on week 4 of moving across the Bridge.
I have found that a nice way to build up distance is at a nice easy steady pace. So pick a pace which is comfortable for you over 5K and stick with that and even go a little slower if you want. This week we will do 2 x 5K runs and a longer run which we will increase by just 500 meters, so a 7K run. Each week we will add on some extra distance to a long run, keeping the other two runs at 5K. Feel free to run your 5k at race pace, intervals or just relax and enjoy them at a nice easy pace.
7K is a great distance and sits nicely between 5K and 10K. Enjoy your 7K runs.
So far in our gang we have, Devon_Straggler, Saratamsin, Raisemeup, DylanTheRabbit, Lablove, Kirst13, Tansycat, Foxile, MamaKeeves, Sammy_Lou, Popstess, Oldgirlruns, UnfitNoMore, Sueken, Joggingonthewildside, Tetleyteagirl, ThisGirlNowRuns, Knitruntalk, Howie1210, Meanmommab, Comaltdel, Tofino, kjm20, 51mc, berrinio, Tabbles
If I am missing anyone let me know. Also if any one would like to join in please let me know. All welcome. Have a good week everyone. Happy running.

Hi Damienair, I've been quiet recently as I've been on holiday. No running as I've been hiking parts of the Pembrokeshire coast path with no energy left afterwards for running. But the legs have appreciated the change, and I think I'll enjoy getting back to running tomorrow.
I have now done 2 x 60 min runs, and the second I extended slightly to cover 8km. I have found the thought of doing more distance not that appealing at the moment (well, being able to cover a great distance is, it's more the thought of spending more time running that's not!). I enjoy the longer runs more than the 30 min runs, but 60 mins seems about the limit of my endurance at the moment. I'm going to see how my legs feel after my break, and how running feels as it begins to cool down a bit (I'm hoping that will help), and then decide whether to keep adding distance or just enjoy what I'm doing until the urge to do more hits me...
Your doing great and if your happy with 60 minutes as a long run then that is fantastic. Your in the rare percentage of the population who can run for an hour. Do what makes you happy. Keep posting and your hiking break sounds lovely.
Only 6 months ago, running for 5 mins was amazing, so 60 mins is more than I ever thought possible. I'm sure there will be a time when I want to run for longer, maybe not even very long from now, but the pressure that I 'should' do a longer run puts me off before I've even started. So much better to just enjoy what I'm doing I think.
Plus not worrying about distance will encourage me to try some hillier routes - yesterday I managed to not only get up a nearby hill, but turn my slow jog into a burst of speed near the end! It's not a massive hill, but I've only ever got 3/4 of the way up before. Still slow, but it's progress
Hi damienair , I would like to join the group please. I’m slowly building my distances back up, after losing my way a little (not literally!) I managed 3x5k last week for the first time in a while, so it sounds like we’re at a similar stage.I did 5k yesterday morning and will try for 5k tomorrow and 7k on Friday.
Hi Damien, well, as expected, I didn't get any running done last week so I'm now a week behind. Got back into the swing of things with a 5k this morning and will aim to do another 5 on Friday and 6.5 on Sunday. Being in the gang is a great incentive to keep going. Good luck with the 7k this week.
Don’t worry about it. Life gets in the way sometimes and that is normal. I was the same. I just did 1 run last week too. You’ll catch up. Enjoy your running this week.
Hi damienair I would love to join your crossing the bridge group please. I completed c25k in April and then got a little too excited and injured my knee. After 2 x 6 weeks rest and a few physio appointments later 🙄 I'm running again but taking it much more steady this time around! I only normally have chance for 2 runs a week but I've worked up to 7km so far. Would be great to join your group to keep me going. Also doing my first ever park run this Saturday. Thanks.
You are very welcome to join us, great to have you onboard. At 7K you are right where we are. This is a pretty easy and relaxed group. We are just increasing distance slowly and adding 500 meters per week onto a long run. But if you feel good and want to add on a bit extra feel free.Enjoy your parkrun this weekend, you will love it. I will be doing my slowest ever parkrun this Saturday as I am volunteering as Tail Walker for the first time and it’s my job to be last.
After my 60 minute run last week, this week's long run was 65 minutes. I actually looked on a map to figure out where I would need to run to to make it a 10k run (11-12k ish with the walks) and headed out asking that route. Also now doing my long evening run on roads and paths, because I'm not enjoying the rough ground so much in the dark. So when the halfway bell rang, I was very aware that if I just went round the corner and up the next straight, I'd be on course for 10k. I decided not to be so impatient.
It felt fine, quite long, but I think that's partly because the route is more linear than I'm used to, so I'm much more aware of the distance I'm covering.
The running bit came to just a tad over 9k. Next week I might do 70 minutes, but I think that will be just an annoying little fraction off the full 10. So I'll might map it out by distance instead and drop the timer.
Falling behind a bit, but still plodding on. Last week two runs, one 4.7k, the other 6.4K. Had to miss out parkrun (over indulged night before 🤢), which was a shame so hoping to get out today. Still mixture of slow jog and a few minutes walking now and then especially as some of my routes have a long (to me) steady incline.
