It was not a great start. I started out just after 6.30 am with my usual 10 minute warm-up walk. Annoyingly I ran for about 1.2k before realising I hadn't switched on my Garmin for my run!! 😒😒I hate it when that happens! 😡 I set the watch for the run and continued, probably going a little faster than I intended.
This was my usual route around the dock and I saw more runners out this morning, than I have in the last couple of weeks. People are clearly getting back to work.
As I approached the last few metres of my 3k I mis-stepped and tripped on the kerb and fell over. I am normally so careful. I fell on to my right side injuring my right knee, chest and bizarrely my front tooth! I was terrified that I might have cracked my tooth, but luckily I knocked it and it's just sore. I'm a little bruised but hopefully my knee recovers in time for my next run.
Looking at the stats afterwards I was surprised to see that 45% of the run was in HR zone 3 and 29% in HR zone 4 as my runs are usually in HR zones 1 and 2.
This was also the first time that Garmin has altered my fitness age which moved one point from 41 to 42. Hopefully my knee is okay for tomorrow.

So sorry you fell over, it’s always a bit of a shock isn’t it. I’m pleased you didn’t chip your tooth - I’ve done that once falling up some steps (and I was only walking up them!). I imagine your HR will settle back down too. I reckon that was just a bit of bad luck run and now you’ve got it out of the way, you’ll rock the rest of the year! Hope the knee feels ok. 😊😊😊
Well done on your run. I hope you are feeling OK after your fall. I hope your tooth is no longer sore and your knee gets back to full fitness soon. Maybe relax and take it a little easier just for your next run. You'll bounce back stronger.
Thanks that's good advice. I ran very slowly this morning and my knee felt okay but I'll take a break before running later this week to be on the safe side. The tooth is aching slightly but some Co-codamol should sort it out.
Hi Buzzards, judging by the difficult times you’ve been through recently you are clearly made of bery tough stuff! Keep going! I hope you are not too sore next day. All the best : )
