If you are just joining for the first time then below is a reminder of what the Quest is all about .

What is the Quest ?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

Some popular goals are:

β˜… To run three times a week

β˜… To slowly increase distance

β˜… To train for a specific race

β˜… To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

Every week I will put up a new post and we can all chat about how we are doing.

It's been a good week so far for me, in so far as i have managed to keep my run frequency up higher than its previously been although i am a little busier now towards the end of the week and unfortunately working the bank holidays Ahh well.

Also today will be day 5 of my James Dunne 30 day challenge Strength and Mobility plan which i am doing along with several other forum members !

So, How’s it been going for you ?

Tell us all about it in a comment to this post !

Have a great week.

Hia! Gosh I’m first here again! I must be keen!

Yes, we’re having a lot of β€˜fun’ with James Dunne (it rhymes! 😁) over at the Strength and Flexibility forum, aren’t we? Although I still have to catch up on day 5! healthunlocked.com/strength...

My quests:

1) keep my 5/2/2, which is becoming my formula. (Minimum of 2 runs, 2 yoga sessions, 5 rows per week) . I think I have to be better at recovery days though, as I’m wanting to row or run every day!

2) my undisclosed fitness thing is going well at the moment, will post soon. (It’s not that big of a deal, but big enough for me to hold myself to account here)

3) progress on my C25k journey, Zombies,Run version: I’m now on Week 3 of 8, run 1.

And last week I started an additional one with you all on S&F:

4) continue the 30 day challenge by James Dunne for strength and mobility ( first sign-up link: healthunlocked.com/strength... )

That’s it. We’ll be having a wonderfully relaxed Easter with family at home. Hope everyone is having a great Easter!

Yep, first here ! 😁Yes it's fun with Dunne and we're doing fine !

Your 5/2/2 sounds full on !

Especially with JD as well .

Hope you find time to rest over Easter 😁

Well, events have meant that the whole 'be sensible, recover' goal has additional salience as I have a proper streaming cold. I am not sure about the 'be sensible' element as I have been behaving a little like a person of normal health (I even went out one evening!) but I would much rather feel ill as a result of doing lovely stuff. And the bug I got at home.

The evening walks are starting to happen though, and I am going into the Festival of Chocolate and Simnel Cake at a lower weight than I feared. So whilst it is all a bit dull in terms of goals, I am happy.

Week 3 already? I’ve run and walked this last week so my quest is to run and walk again this coming week , off to the jolly old hospital on 23 and 26 and it will involve men with knives and a bit of a sleep so next week won’t be up to much but will have time to read posts

Thanks, flipping hope so but it won’t be the last time with the men and knives but I think the end is in sight, at least with all the tests they’ve done I know that every other part of me is in tip top form

Thank you 😊 only 8 days and it’ll be over for now and home again, it’s going on a bit and getting boring but running and walking really clear my head

Hi, Hope everyone is well and questing into spring. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the fruit blossoms in the little community mini orchard - especially joyful in the sunshine.

Since last week I’ve run alternate days: 5k, 6k, 5.5k (so that’s 5 runs since returning). My ankle is still feeling comfortable. I’ve been given the go-ahead to start to rebuild my distances - carefully and gradually. I’ve done a couple of strides to test how the speed feels - also good, but I’ll keep things gentle for a couple of weeks, I think. So, I’m not yet back on my NRC HM plan, which involves speedwork, but I’ve found something called the β€˜April Stack’. I’ve done most of these coached runs already, but it gives me a little challenge to focus on while I resettle. Come May, hopefully, I should be ready to segue back into the HM plan.

I’ve got my physio exercises - now updated with lots of jumping variations while also continuing with some of the β€˜essentials’. Plus, I’ve also joined the 30-day challenge on S&F; stage one complete!

Hi I57, still doing my best :)If I do the Parkrun tomorrow that'll be 3 runs this week. If I oversleep I'll do at least another 5k so that'll still be 3 runs this week.

Although this is Week 3 of the quest it'll only be the 16th tomorrow and all being well I should have run more than 25km by the end of the day so I'm on track for 50 km this month.

As for the elusive 10k...put it this way, it's not impossible, I'm just waiting for inspiration to carry my feet those extra km. I've done 8km in the past (months ago now) so know there's no reason I can't do another couple. I could blame Mr Yes, he just loves running for 5km so persuading him to do the extra distance is an issue. I suppose I could just carry on running and let him go home but I've sort of got out of the habit of long runs on my own.

Leave it with me. I'll sort it out ;) I'll report next week :)

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10β€’ in reply toYesletsgo

Sounds like your doing just fine and on track for your 50k in a month ! 😁I'm sure that inspiration will soon carry you on to that 10k when ready πŸ‘

Where has the time gone! I’m YWA most days plus the JD for fun!! And should have done three runs but thwarted by a call from Dads careline yesterday so had to do a dash round there 😩 but psyching myself to go this morning I’ve downloaded a run so m nearly there!! Ps Dad had flooded the bathroom he said bathrooms are supposed to be wet !! Just a flood alarm shrieking and ignoring the careline speaking to him to alert him to turn the taps off !! Alzheimer’s is difficult !! Thank god for running πŸ™ŒπŸ»

It must be difficult, as you say , thank god for the running!

I achieved my quest to run longer further this morning my longest run to date 17.37km longer than planned with a running time of 1:50

Up from my long run last week of 14.5k and a 1.40.

Also 7pb on segments, best 10k time and first time I have ran over 10 miles and I thought I was being sensible. Route was more gravel than normal

Excellent, well done on your 17.37k Did you claim your 10 mile badge ?

And some great PB's

Sounds like a successful Quest ! 😁πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Hi I57 is there a specific thread for distances other than 5k. As I can only find a 5k one?

Instructor57 profile image

Yes, you can claim it here in the Marathon forum 😁

Whoops, I forgot to post progress last week. Not sure what happened there instructor57.

So, since 1st April I have run 6 times (1 run short of the 3 times a week due to hectic socials this week)

I ran a 9k and today a 10k so I have reached the distance of my forthcoming race.

I managed 1 Pilates class but had to cancel none to run instead.

I’ve been mixing it up a bit with intervals, fartleks and hills (I mean slopes).

So all is on track.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10β€’ in reply toDexy5

All sounds good to me πŸ˜πŸ‘I also like to call my slopes Hills 🀣

They certainly feel like it when I'm running up them

Great you've achieved the distance prior to the race πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Run 3 times a week βœ…

Extend my distance out βœ… - almost reached 4 miles on Friday

Core/strength work ❌ - zero, zilch,nada...

A late report on my quest this month. The Dreaded Lurgi has left me and my energy levels are returning. I'd say I'm now 99% back to normal.

My current plan is to gradually ramp up my activity until I'm doing what I was before.

Still here... Week 7 Magic Plan, not quite complete.

Run 3 should have been today but a tad weary and a tad achy so, I just ran... another 5K...it was enjoyable and for me, right now, that is just fine. Glorious morning and glorious views. The castle is still where it always is... just like in my other million photographs :)

Hopefully will do the 9K on Wednesday.

Happy, safe running all x

Criccieth Castle... still beautiful after all these years!

Glad your still here and progressing through week 7 of the magic plan 😁We of course need to mix and match these runs as our bodies dictate!

And That's running smart ! πŸ˜πŸ‘

Hi, just checking in... I'm finding running is still very much on the back burner (not being done πŸ™„) I am finding time and enjoying YWA still.

Throat still uncomfortable and nasal drip thing going on which interferes with my sleep... a busy week spending time with daughter and family. Precious times πŸ’™

My Quest is now to get better. I know I will run as soon as I get chance ( when Mr Bbr goes off to play golf) hopefully next week!
