Hi all, I've managed to develop a shin splint. Annoyingly, not while *running* running, but while bashing about on the beach with the dog (he's cute, so I forgive him). Any advice anyone can offer about how to get off the IC & back running again will be very welcome! (He's the one on the left πΊπ). Thanks.

Your dog is absolutely gorgeous. Rest, rest and rest. Take a few days off and relax. That should sort you out. Take it easy when getting back to running.
He gets so many compliments when we're out & about with him. Luckily he's the sociable type & takes it all in his stride...As everyone has advised, I'll be resting for a day or two to see how it goes. Thanks!
Thanks for the link - that's really useful. I think the lack of stretching may be a factor, since I'm always very conscientious about stretching before an actual run. However, PCdug and I were having too much fun to bother about such trifles. He's fine of course, little furry git π.
My other half got those really badly. I got him a foam roller - painful but effective. When it comes to running, really thorough pre and post run stretches really help. But the thing that completely cured him was buying a new pair of running shoes. He'd thought his shoes were comfortable, but when he switched brands, so I'm guessing the support, or the drop, was different, he could really feel the difference. Sorry, expensive solution, but if nothing else works ..
