I am ready! 10k, bring it on … again. Is everyone ready to break that record? (Guiness World Record of most people having run a remote 10k virtualrunners.org/pages/gwr )
Ran a short recovery run today, last one before 10k this Sunday. Plan to not run until then, as this has worked really well for me in the past. Well maybe a tiny run on Friday. Otherwise only yoga and cross training. Today’s 3.7k recovery run felt great, using NRC Coach Benett 12 min short guided run.
According to him - but personalised by me - my celebrations for today were:
1. Getting my gear on and getting out the door!
2. Knowing what run I was going to do today, having a plan
3. Enjoying my first foggy run this season
4. Finishing the run on a high, with Chicago playing in my ears.
What’s not to celebrate!
Happy running everyone! And see you at that starting line!

I happen to be running the Bristol 10K on Sunday anyway so thought, why not become part of a record attempt at the same time, and signed myself up last night. Isn't it exciting 🥳
I had a lovely, short recovery run in the mist this morning too, it made me long for crisp, cold Autumn mornings even more.
Good luck with your 10k and enjoy your pre-run rest days. 🏅
The Bristol 10k was my first proper event - back in 2016! I have never beaten the 10k PB I got there, I think possibly due to all the excitement and running with my sister, who is a bit faster than me generally! Have a fantastic day!🙂
I hear it's a lovely run, although I think they've changed the route this year from what it usually is. If it had gone ahead last May, it would have been my first event too, and the reason I started C25K in the first place. As it turns out, all the other events I had booked for this year have been postponed or cancelled, so it will still be my first 'proper' event. I'm scared and excited in equal measure at the moment as I've never run with big crowds, not even parkrun!!
I hope you enjoy the Reigate 10k this Sunday too, and why not sign up for the world record attempt?! I figured that I'm running the distance anyway, so it would be rude not to 😂
Oohhh yes! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🎉👏and good running with your Reigate! Looks like a lively event!
I hope I will be ready. The plan was a 5K on Tuesday and Thursday. But I know since yesterday that I get my third covid jab tonorrow (Thursday) and have a doctors appointment on Friday. Therefor I switched my Tuesday run to today (Wednesday) in order to have the week more evenly distributed run-wise. And of course I hope the jab won't disrupt my run on Sunday!
I’ve signed up! Thanks for the reminders. I’ve had to be a bit creative (‘flexible’) with my NRC training plan - strictly, in that, 10k is next week’s long run and this week’s is 8k. But having run 10k a few times, I’m perfectly ready to do it. The record attempt allows all-running, jeffing, walking and wheelchairs, and a ‘pause’ (just needs to be recorded as a single session for the GBoR proof), I noticed, making it very accessible … including to VRBs who might not yet be ready for the full 10k run.
It’s my long training run on Sunday, so I too thought, why not. Only just signed up, hope I get the relevant information through in time to take part. Good luck to those racing on Sunday.
Have you been sent links to the Facebook group and their portal to record your run? I’m still waiting to be sent these, not sure what to do to take part if I don’t get the portal link!
I don’t think so. But I try to avoid Facebook as much as I can and you can put in your results without Facebook. Attached the image of the confirmation email I got from virtual runners. And I think you register with virtual runners to put in your evidence. Does this help?
And I just looked and I did receive emails on how to log evidence with password, as well as a separate email detailing Facebook and Instagram. They all can from various virtual runner email accounts. Maybe check your spam folder?
Thanks for the response. Already checked my spam, not there. Sent an email but there is a 72 hour response time! How long do we have to enter our evidence, hopefully I’ll get the link before the time expires.
