This morning I finished repeating C25K after a year mostly on the IC. So Week 9 Run 3 ... er ... somehow turned into a 10K. 🤣
My running route includes a 4 km loop. I felt very comfy after 5K, and I know it can't be Christmas EVERY day but I wanted W9R3 to be special, so I just did another circuit and then waited for my watch to ping me at 10K.
A few mini adventures - at 4 km my shoelace came undone and I lost my rhythm after I stopped to retie it. Then my house key which was in a zipped chest pocket was chafing painfully as my shirt was soaked through - so I relocated it to the zipped back pocket of my trousers. At 8 km the front of my right foot was getting painfully sore - it's been a while since I ran for an hour - so I tried to concentrate on heel strikes for the rest of the run. Probably why I slowed down a bit.
I know the route very well and I calculated I would reach 10K just by the start of my favourite walk back home, which happened pretty much inch perfect.
My legs felt a bit funny for a minute or so when I stopped running, and when I do warm down stretches I usually feel nothing, but this time I could feel my calf muscles when I stretched them.
As I've found with these slower runs, I can't even tell I've been for a run today. I did sweat a LOT and had a problem with sweat running into my eyes. I have ordered some hot weather running gear which should be here before my next longer run. I'm thinking I should also get an alice band or something to stop the sweat running down into my eyes.
This was my second outing in a new pair of Nike Pegasus 38 trainers and they were excellent. I didn't even notice them while I was running which I think may be the best thing you can say about a pair of shoes?
I am greatly enjoying this slower running. In my head I'm thinking "I'm just out for a bit of a run, and it's better than walking!"
