Run on the coast π: Hi guys, I'm going for my... - Bridge to 10K
Run on the coast π
Jelly babies (so I hear) π
Seriously, I haven't done one but I would only echo all the advice given below !
Good luck ππ€
Good luck Stocksy!!! Make sure you are well hydrated, get a good sleep tonight, take enough water with you..and you know what's coming next........
Take it slowπππ
Good luck look forward to seeing you run report βΊοΈ
And just one other thing..if you start to feel it's hurting too much, more than your normal for a longer distance, then there's no shame in calling it a day..
It can wait π
Hi Stocksy67 , usual stuff, i.e. ensure you're really well hydrated - so drink loads of water now! - and don't go off too fast.
I'd also advise you to take water and something to eat with you. I also hear jelly babies are great, but I loathe them so snack on dried fruit if I need to.
I wouldn't recommend doing a HM without water or fuel. Confession: I did! My (extremely poor) excuse is that my first HM was entirely unplanned.
Hope it goes well, and if by any chance it doesn't there's always another day. Happy running!
Start easy and let the run unfold slowly. Once youβve warmed up let the splits ebb and flow, speeding up (a little!) when you want and slowing down when you want. Listen to your body.
I hate jelly babies. I tried one once on a long run and it got stuck in my teeth! I take small cubes of flapjack which I enjoyed. After 5K I had sips of water, alternating with sips of Tailwind mix (electrolyte drink) every km.
Itβs a long way. In my head, I divided the run into about 6 sections so I could mentally cross them off as I completed them. Somehow, this was preferable to just crossing off each kilometre, or thinking about how many kms I had left to run!
Good luck! Oh, I forgot to say - enjoy it! As I prepared to pull out any stops remaining for the final km (yes, I found I actually could) I felt quite emotional that it was almost over!
Odd that you often have more in a reserve tank than you expected, isn't it?
I found I could easily sprint across a big traffic light junction (when all the lights were red) about 13km into a 15km run.
Great advice above re fuel, hydration and pace - good luck!ππ
