A check in from me!

Good morning runners! I hope your all well,it's been a while since I've checked in. I'm currently laid in my hammock soaking in this glorious sunshine ☀️ thought I'd pop on with a bit of an update on what I've been up to. In truth not a lot! 🤣 Since covid jab 1 I've been pretty low on energy and only managing 1 or 2 5k runs a week and that's been a struggle. I got jab 2 on Friday morning and was expecting to feel awful again but I've been ok. Woke up early today and got the urge to run, first time I haven't had to force myself out in ages, I actually wanted to go! Couple of km warm up walk and some stretches and I was off! Shorts and t shirt for first time in ages, no running tights or headband. The sun felt amazing! My plan was 5k but I decided to push on as felt decent...tired but capable of keeping on! By the time if reached 8k I could have stopped but still felt I had some in reserve and pushed on for a first 10k in a long while! What turned out to be my 2nd fastest 10k ever 😁 no idea how as the last half felt slow 🤣

Felt so happy to reach the 10k again and more importantly to actually quite enjoy the run 💪🏻😁

I hope everybody having a great bank holiday weekend and that your runs go as well as mine 🤞🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Amazing 10k, your 2nd jag obviously gave you the boost you needed in energy and self belief. 😂 Well done and happy running l🤗

Glad to see your back out there, been pretty quiet recently from the old team 🦌i've not been running as much, just a 5/6k every week or so, groin was still niggling, so prob good idea to rest up a bit, got my 2nd jab on mon, no real reaction with first one, to hope it will be ok. 🤞

Cheers Peter, good to see your still active, best to be cautious with any groin niggles 👌🏻 I've managed 1 5k since this run (28 mins) and am planning on heading out for another in the morning of all goes well. No bad effects from 2nd jab thus far, felt better if anything 🤣 must be all the lovely sunshine.

Thanks Tasha 😁, how are you finding running in the heat?

I’m not too bad at the moment but I find it hard when it’s even hotter. I tend to plod around in my low heart rate happy pace most of the time. I always wear a very lightweight white running cap (Salomon XA) as I can’t stand direct sunlight on me when it’s warm. Must be part vampire 🧛🏽‍♀️

I think I'd go shirtless if I wasn't so flabby 🤣 but will keep at least a vest and shorts on for decencies sake 🤣 I try to go early before it gets really hot but the sun is certainly enticing me back out there a bit more regularly, tomorrow will be my first 3 run week in a while...could potentially be a 4 run week if I stay off the drink 🤣
