Hi, can any of you kind people who have had cataract surgery please tell me how long a break they took from running ( more like jogging in my case!) I realise that everyone's experience is different so will have to see how it goes, but it would be interesting to hear from other people. Thanks

Hi Readandrun ...I have no experience of this at all...have you spoken to your doctor?? I’m sure they’ll be answer any questions you might have...I suppose everyone recovers at different paces so hopefully, it won’t be long before you’re back up and running..Good luck with your surgery if you haven’t had it already x

Thanks for your reply, good advice !

Hi it is always best to go for proper professional advice. Every person is an individual with differing reasons for getting cataracts and differing situations. Variations can include such things as - is only 1 eye affected, o or both?; do both eyes need to be operated on or just one.? and what are the reasons for either case. For example, my husband had to have one eye cornea changed, but because of his stigmatism he had to have both changed. Therefore it is very difficult to give a specific answer to such a general question.

However, good luck with the operation and hope you recover well and are soon out running again.

😀👍

Thanks for your reply. I will ask their advice when I go next week, then I guess it's wait and see!!

sounds good to me !! I neglected to say that I have recently been diagnosed with early onset of cataracts too, so I shall have to follow my own advice LOL

I had multifocal lenses implanted ( same procedure), I didn't run then, but I had to take things easy for about 2 weeks.Ask your eye surgeon. Even after that you have to be careful of getting dust or grit in your eyes so sports glasses are probably a good idea.

Nothing that you can't get back to though 😊

Thanks, the sports glasses sound a good idea on the trails.
