Hi everyone - mini update

Hiya everyone. Just thought I'd pop in as it's been a while since I posted.

I've been getting my head around a new job since January and that has been a lot more tiring than I expected but like lots of people, it's been the weather that's been putting a spanner in the works.

As it turns out, I've been managing to get myself out at least once a week regardless of weather (twice if lucky and three times is just a pipe dream at the moment) to try and maintain some level of fitness. As I mentioned in December, I've definitely learnt that I enjoy the quick 5k runs to lengthier distances but I'm also aware I don't want to fall into a physical or mental running plateau so have decided to use my weekend run for getting back somewhere towards the 10k mark bit-by-bit and in my own time. Did a comfyish 6k today, my first distance over 5k since the New Year so here's hoping I can build up my endurance steadily once again. With the weather turning, I'm hoping this will become easier too.

I really hope everyone is doing ok and enjoying their running ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah thanks WillowandSola. Yeah it won't be long till running after work is an option again but I'm glad you've been able to stay enjoying it. There's something nice about looking forward to a run after work. A good way to let the stress of the day go

This month I've fallen into the pattern of doing shorter runs during the week (up to an hour including walks) and a long one at the weekend. Unlike some places, the weather here earlier in the month didn't stop running. It was blooming cold though.

Haha yes that first step outside the door can sometimes take your breath away! At least it doesn't take long to warm up. That was the plan I was initially going to try, short runs in the week and a longer one at weekends. I'm glad the weather hasn't made your plans go awry though. Roll on spring lol!

Hi Pnegirl ๐Ÿ˜

Lovely to see a post from you, learning a new job is exhausting, so well done for finding time to still get out there for a run. Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll soon build up to 10k, weathers getting much better now, which as you say will definitely help. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thanks Couchphoenix. I hope you're getting on OK too. Yes, it won't take me long to build up hopefully but I'm just going tu take it easy this time. Even if I can just make 7 or 8k runs my target for the meantime, I'll be happy

You are doing well to keep running at all. Things will settle down and youโ€™ll soon be back, impressing us and smashing all your goals.๐Ÿ˜

Lovely that youโ€™re continuing to pop in ๐Ÿ˜„

Great that youโ€™re finding the time to get out again too, youโ€™ll have no bother increasing things when youโ€™re ready ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

The weather has been so awful in Jan/Feb that opportunities were limited for everyone ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Daylight is stretching though so evening runs can often be quite nice , the birds are usually in excellent tune around then ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve been โ€˜in the huffโ€™ on the IC but I seem to be โ€˜sidlingโ€™ off ๐Ÿ‘

A couple of runs and so far so good , not putting any pressure on myself re distance or any kind of plan but would like to get a couple in each week and just enjoy them again .

Really looking forward to spring and summer or anything resembling non- Baltic ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Hope youโ€™re getting used to the new job and life is treating you kindly ๐Ÿ˜Š

Great to hear from you Racingingthesteeet! Sorry it's taken me so long to 'pop in' again but I'm so pleased to hear that you're steadily getting yourself off the injury couch. No doubt you'll be back to your regular runs in no time, injury allowing ๐Ÿ™‚.I've just been for my first run in just over a week actually. It was a struggle but I'll hold my hand up and say I wasn't as prepared as I should have been - I should know better by now haha! Since my last post I did manage to get back up to 8k but I'm not putting pressure on and may restart building back up slowly after my mini break from running.

I hope you're ok and that you're enjoying the lovely dawn/dusk choruses that the birds are treating us to at the moment and I'm completely with you: roll on those lovely spring days! ๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒท

Well done on the 8K ๐Ÿ‘Œ but yes do watch the prep ๐Ÿ˜‚ Injury ,as you know, is no fun at all ๐Ÿ˜‰I think as long as you manage even one run a week/10 days no matter how long then youโ€™ll โ€˜keep your hand inโ€™ .

You will be able to ramp it up from there when you feel able to give it the time .

Also you get the feel good factor from any run ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ™‚ ( well unless itโ€™s one of those bad ones ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Iโ€™ve had a funny month , managed to get out maybe twice a week but keeping it to between 3-5K and itโ€™s been ok.

Not quite feeling the motivation though , hopefully will work that out.

I think when youโ€™re used to progressing forward itโ€™s a bit unsettling and frustrating to have retrace your steps etc ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

The good thing is Iโ€™ve not given up so hopefully Iโ€™ll get a bit of purpose back.

Hope all good with you , Iโ€™ve been ages in replying to you or posting anything at all ๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜€๏ธ
