10k almost there! ๐Ÿ’œ

Went out today, a bit later than usual, dry, down here, and no flooding like i'm seeing on the news, hope everyone's ok ๐Ÿ™

My daughter had mapped out a new 10k route, taking us through another local village, including the road, where we had lived for 15 years, which was nice. Wasn't sure how it would go today, as i've a cold coming, i think, at 5k, route went near our house again, incase we needed to stop, which we almost did, as my daughter had bad stitch, even had a couple of walks, but wouldnt go, but she wanted to keep going, i've trained her well ๐Ÿคฃ anyway, last few km's along canal, quiet today, a few other runners about, 2 gazzelles went past us, at speed, twice ๐Ÿฅต stopped at 10k, even though tempted to do another 3.5k to get to 100, for jan, next time! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Once again, hope everyones ok, with all the flooding. ๐Ÿ™

Well done peter, another great 10k and so close to that 100km you can taste it! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Another 10k!- well done, you're smashing your target- I only did 6k today, but I'm fine with that after my twitchy knee- hope you aren't getting a cold๐Ÿคง

Thanks, feel much better today, maybe the run, blew it away! ๐Ÿคฃ hope your niggly knee is ok, mine seems alright, does make me laugh, when we say, a short 6k, wouldnt have said that 5/6 months ago, i almost had to stop at 5k today! ๐Ÿคฃ

And you just kept going!!!

This is fab considering how new running is. Dusting of snow and some ice here again. Iโ€™ve ordered a treadmill to keep me going till the better weather. When that kicks in up here is patchy though โšก๏ธโ„๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ in a day

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Alvor

We're lucky down here, not alot of snow really, not been cold enough for ice, for a while, treadmill sounds a good stopgap, dont think any gyms will be opening, anytime soon! โ˜น

Alvor
Alvor in reply to Peter44

Iโ€™m repurposing my dining room lol. Eaten in twice a year, will now be a wee gym. 3 lots of gym fees cancelled and the treadmill will pay for itself in no time. Still looking to the joy of purely outside running. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Only used treadmill at gym, a few times, hurt my knee, on one occasion, always felt like it was wobbling about, and very noisy! ๐Ÿคฃ

Well done, Peter. So close to that 100K!

Great 10K for you, must be getting easy now after your 10 miler ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Your right, 10k does seem a bit easier now, blimey, did i just say that!!! ๐Ÿคฃ was a bit worried about this cold, but was fine, was ok yesterday morning, went out for a walk, afternoon, pretty wet, and miserable, and suddenly my nose was streaming ๐Ÿคง even, during the evening, but now, it's fine. ๐Ÿคท

Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Itโ€™s amazing when you start to think โ€˜oh, Iโ€™ll just do a 10K todayโ€™ and you know you can! Thatโ€™s what happens after youโ€™ve run for 10 miles. Then you start thinking โ€˜mmm maybe Iโ€™ll work towards a half marathonโ€™ !

Glad the sniffles have gone!

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Have you any plans for another half marathon? ๐Ÿค”

Jools2020
Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Oh yes! Iโ€™ll do what I did before. Drop to 10K for a couple of weeks. Then another 10 miler, drop to 10K for a couple more weeks .. then Iโ€™ll do another HM. Taking it steady and listening to my body. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

That sounds like a good plan, might even do something like that too, not sure about the full marathon though! ๐Ÿฅต

Jools2020
Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

It is a good plan, because it worked before! No plans for a full marathon yet.

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Sorry, i just had to google a metric marathon, thought it was a full one, not heard of metric before, so 26km's ๐Ÿค”

Yes work has a habit of getting in the way doesn't it. I haven't run since Sunday and am desperate to get out there. Hopefully tomorrow...

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

I was looking at your old post, about your 9k run, with short walk intervals, was telling my daughter today, when we had to walk briefly, with her stitch problems. ๐Ÿค”

Birdlady64
Birdlady64Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Ah yes - I remember that one well.I think it's fine to walk for a bit - especially if you have a stitch! You just have to get past that mindset that says it's cheating somehow.

It is so counterintuitive that you can go faster by walking though isn't it

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

Yes, very strange, and goes against the mindset of, i'm not stopping! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Glad youโ€™re feeling better! Iโ€™m still out of action ๐Ÿ˜ซ Been taking it easy, just walks at the moment and stretching. Walked part of one of my regular runs yesterday and all I could think was โ€œIโ€™d usually be running this!!โ€ Boo! Hoping to try out a gentle run early next week ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

A nice 10k in the bank, well done Peter44 ๐Ÿ‘ nice to have a running companion along for the ride too, she sounds as determined as you, a chip off the old block ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thanks, yes she did really well today, determined to keep going, even though she was struggling with a bit of stitch, it funny really, as i did all my c25k, on my own, she only started running with me, maybe, 2 months ago, it's nice as we can do alot of talking too.Had a call from my mum's care home tonight, to say she's tested possitive for covid, which isnt good! ๐Ÿ˜ช

Itโ€™s lovely that you can share your running with your daughter.

Iโ€™m so sorry to hear about your mum, this Covid is an awful thing, thatโ€™s a real worry for you, I really do hope she is ok.

Bet itโ€™s great to know youโ€™re only 3.5km away from 100 in a month-thatโ€™s a mere stroll for you now! That half marathon sounds like an achievable goal over the next few months. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐ŸฆŒ

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Bambi2020

Yes, almost there now, the way it's going with the schools, i'll have plenty of time to build up to HM ๐Ÿค”

Well done on another 10k! Is is so nice to be able to run with your daughter. One more run and you will have smashed it ๐Ÿ’ช

Havenโ€™t been out since I saw the sports injury clinician. I had a deep massage on both quads and hips. Omg! Getting through it was harder than C25k, nearly asked her to stop on a couple of occasions๐Ÿฅต

Going to see how I feel tomorrow as they are still sore after treatment.

I was surprised to hear that a regular deep massage would help prevent the muscle damaged I have accumulated over the past few months.

Is it just me, but I donโ€™t seem to read about anyone else being this sore. I think Iโ€™m going to stop JuJuโ€™s plan at the minute and do shorter runs to see how I go. My mind is willing but my body doesnโ€™t seem to be๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Peter44
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Dups

Your massage story made me laugh, i hurt my back, running, pre first lockdown, and had a massage at my gym, blimey, she left me with bruises, i think it helped! ๐Ÿคฃ dont know about your aches, i probably dont do enough stretches, pre/post runs, but doing shorter ones, should help. ๐Ÿค”

Amazing!! You and @Grannyhugs are on a roll. Right thing to save the 3.5 for next run. Thereโ€™s plenty of time left, and itโ€™ll be so good to cross the 100 with a full tank... perhaps more in spirit of a fun run celebration? Will be interesting to see your kilometerage on 31st.
