It's quite possible I've over done it this year, or I've discovered that running on the spot is bad for you. Either way, right now, I can hardly walk.
I kicked the year off with a 20.21k run on 1st. Then on 4th I did a club run which clocked up another 11k. In between time I've been helping the wife get in her 10,000 steps a day by running on the spot together in the evenings.
Tonight I set out on a 5K virtual race and managed a 5K PB (22.58 according to Strava) which although tough going, just flowed naturally without too much thought, other than lots of Garmin checking to keep an eye on my pace. However, the minute I stopped, instantly my legs were in agony and the short walk home was horrendous. I honestly thought my legs were going to cave in and I would collapse. Especially painful on the inside of my lower legs, just above the ankles. Very tender to touch and very painful when weight bearing. Oddly no pain and a nice relief when walking up stairs. I suddenly feel like I'm floating.
I'm going to take the next few days very easy and rest up, but if anyone's got any similar experience or thoughts on the cause or a remedy please shout out.

I congratulate you on that 22.58. 5K PB, however, I think you have been overdoing your running since January 1st, have at least 5 days off running, go for short walks or other light exercises, after that resume your runs with a short, perhaps 5K run but not sub 25 minutes.
Yeah, I think you might be right. A combination of 10days isolation meant I was stuck indoors for too long and the New Year motivation to get that fitness back up has resulted in going too far, too fast, too soon.
I'm certainly going to ease back a bit and hope this pain is simply a warning light flashing at me and not anything too serious
