Morning runners! Decided to risk the still rather ropey feeling legs this morning and try to burn off some of my Xmas excesses! Decided to ride up to a pals and run home, not very far I thought and a good test for the new shoes/knackered legs situation.
First the ride, it was ok...tough up hill but felt ok and the legs didn't give me much grief, it was pleasant enough weather if a little cold on the fingers. Roads were quiet and the experience reminded me how much I used to love riding.
Dropped the bike off, and prepped for the run home. Had a sleeve on my left knee as it was buggered after last week, it did it job and my actual knee didn't give me much bother. However my legs felt like lead and my feet like concrete, really struggled to run and wanted to stop throughout! Sheer pig headedness got me through but my legs didn't even feel like my own, they had a weird numb feeling and my usually reliable right ankle/top of foot hurt like hell for a lot of the run.
I'm hoping that this is all tondo with how much food and drink I've had since last run and not a sign that I've done some damage ๐ค๐ปbreaking in new running shoes too I suppose won't have helped, hoping there not something I'm going to have to change again so quickly ๐คฃ
Birthday tomorrow but having celebrations today/tonight and then that's me off the drink for a while, I have 20 bottles left from 108 bought ๐คฃ๐คฃ that's not counting the spirits/champagne etc ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ day or two to recover then il hopefully be back out running before New year's Eve (if these stupid legs sort themselves out!)

Well done for getting through that run back. It's horrible when your legs feel like that. But now you need to run uphill to get your bike back and cycle home ๐
Happy birthday for tomorrow - sounds like a lot of bottles to get through on today's celebration. Enjoy!๐๐ฅณ๐พ
Ha ha, Runningโs not enough now, letโs add cycling to the mix, wouldnโt be surprised to see the next post including a swim across a reservoir somewhere to finish off the triathlon ๐ด๐ผ ๐โโ๏ธ ๐โโ๏ธ Have a great birthday tomorrow-rest those tired bones! ๐ ๐
Well done, you got out, despite the dodgey knee/legs, sounds a bit post xmas indulgences! ๐คฃ blimey, still a fast pace ๐ฅตI'm of out in a bit, not sure how far yet! ๐ค
Enjoy your birthday celebrations! ๐ฅณ๐๐๐บ
Wowee, a cycle and a run. That is some going but well done for getting it done ๐๐ปAND after the Christmas excesses ๐ ๐Impressive you ran back after your cycle. I wonder if trying to do both whacked you out a bit.. And with the niggling knee and ankle situ, that wouldn't have helped the energy levels either I'm sure. Goes without saying good hydration (of the water variety!!) is key..maybe a bit lacking on that front and that affected your energy levels. Still a good pace on you though! Are you stretching out after your runs, have you invested in the demon foam roller yet? Works a treat on my ITB when I feel my knee niggle getting worse. Physio told me years ago it's when the muscles tighten up the side of your leg and start 'pulling' the ligaments causing various niggles. Might be worth a try with that to see if that helps? Happy Birthday for tomorrow and enjoy your day! ๐ ๐ ๐
You'll be planning to run back to your mates to collect your bike soon!
