Well it’s here. The night before. My 10k Eve, my first Race Day Eve. Exciting right?
It feels like a real special day Eve, like Christmas Eve, everything’s prepared (even the body hopefully 😬) all laid out, bib, pins, hat, socks, shoes, batteries charged, post run breakfast 🍳 food in the fridge, I’ve had my bath, all clean 😁....sounding more like Christmas isn’t it, ....all that’s missing is the pre supper sherry 😘 and the 🍷. A nice glass of water with ice and a slice 😋 ummm...🤔
Now the sad bit. Even special days have them. Some of you will remember a post featuring our beloved rescue cat Dolly. (Cravings ....and the cats equivalent of the mad half hour) Tomorrow I will be running in her memory, 😢 sadly killed on a road in our village last week.
Now she is helping me to raise funds for our much needed local Cancer Unit opening next year. (If you live in North Norfolk and want to support this see details on the poster.)
The oh dear bit. After avoiding running injuries all year ( well apart from falling over 🙄) I managed to acquire a groin strain on Wednesday 😱 .....a mad moment when I suddenly started sprinting up the fairway to right a fallen flagstick on the green, why? 🤨 I didn’t realise what I’d done until yesterday morning when I got out of bed 🙊oops. A gentle walk today, ouch to begin with but then seemed OK. Brother physio says, ‘Just take it easy you mad woman, no sudden sprinting necessary or desirable!’ Oh yes and I should confess I’ll be breaking the 10% rule, only run 8k so far 🤷🏻♀️
Don’t tell anyone Jorge, but lots of us went straight from 8k to 10k. You get to 9k and think, what the hell, and slip the extra 1k in. Hope your groin strain behaves and that you have a great day. So sorry about Dolly; she would be proud of what you are doing.👏👏👏👏
🤣 I won’t breathe a word, thank you, I’m really looking forward to it. Mr J and a few friends are coming to cheer me through the virtual tape 🤗🎃

Ssh.... I'm another 8k -> 10k runner too, but I think you knew that already. Lots of luck with your run tomorrow. I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful cat Dolly. This is a wonderful thing you are doing and a lovely way to commemorate her. 🤗

Yes I did but I didn’t mention it to a soul 😘 and thanks D-d really looking forward to it, honestly it feels like Xmas Eve 🤸♀️🤗
Thanks very much dijep, yes she was such a sweetie, her brother Freddy is missing her too now he’s an only cat. I am such a softie with my cats, always had them and love them to bits. It’s funny how excited I feel about my run tomorrow, I think I’m growing younger since I started running again (my watch says I am anyway 🤣) 🤗🎃
Dolly looks like a lovely day, with this thought plus raising money for charity, you will absolutely do this! Keep it nice and relaxed and can't wait to hear about it.
Good luck! I'm so sure you'll nail this. You've done a lot of prep and although its a jump, the commitment/cause will be all that you need to get you to the finish line. You might well feel really knackered but I am sure you will dig in and get to the finish!!! I'll be virtually cheering as you get to that 10k!!!
Thanks Cantsoimgonna yes it’s made such a difference getting others involved and making it a charity event. Mr J is even coming to run the first 2 miles with me and he hasn’t run since March ! 🤸♀️🎃🤗
Morning Dexy, Thank you 😊. Ha ha how did you know, here I am kit on waiting for the 9am bell....I did wake up ridiculously early, I think if it was the real thing in London I might not have slept at all,👻 so good to have this practice run on home territory. Don’t think I can eat until I’m done 😀
