Well normally I get flowers from my other half ,today I got three pairs of new long running socks and I got so excited you wouldn't believe!!! I can't wait to get out and run later!!! Normally I'm an early morning runner but had to start work early today βΉοΈ
But the fact I'm so excited about socks and I'm already saying my Christmas list includes new running shoes, that's means I'm hooked surely??!
On a more serious note, I ran my first PB for 5k on Tues, 32m 56s. I graduated from the C24K end of July., I follow the consolidation podcasts every other day, but still not hit the 30mins for 5k which is frustrating. I've signed up for the magic 10k plan starting next week. With that time, do you reckon I'm fit enough to aim for the10k?

So long as you are happy running 5ks (at whatever speed) then you are ready for the magic plan. Why not join jujuβs new group on 3rd September? Everyone learns together and supports each other.
Hiya, yes have signed up, just waiting fir the instructions which I presume will appear next week online, just hoping I can do it, but I have the determination!
You're not alone, I got a new delivery from rundewear and I can't wait to try them out! ππ
That's just a super time for your 5k! ππ€ΈββοΈπͺ It takes me about 43mins to do 5k. I'm on the magic plan but doing time instead of distance. It sounds like you're absolutely ready for the next step. Try out the distance version, it's about hitting the set distances without worrying about time. I had to go for the timed version because I hadn't even done 5k when I started and I knew I didn't have the stamina to go for distance π₯΅ good luck with it, looking forward to reading your updates π
Thank you. I also downloaded the Nike running app, and really love that with it telling me each km how long I've taken and my average pace. There are guided 10km runs in there so I thought I'd give it go this weekend.
Sounds like a great plan! I did the 20 minute NRC guided run last week and I really enjoyed it. I'm checking out their interval ones, might try one out this weekend
I got some end of line ones as it was a little cheaper but they really are good as they don't ride up and helps massively with sweating. You'll love them π
Haha this made me giggle ππ thereβs no hope for you now, youβve crossed the line with the socks π€£
On the other thing, why the hurry? There are loads of people who never run 5K in under 30 minutes and others who take years. If this is a goal, then spookily the more you run the faster you get so the 10K training and running slowly will help you with the 30 minute target. Trying to run too fast too often is a recipe for injury and, as a person whoβs found the socks thing, you definitely donβt want that π
Wotcha!! Wahooooooooo. This means you are a runner. I think we're all the same! Socks, running shoes, vests etc. It's awesome π
Huge congratulations on your journey so far. Your 5k time is ace. Don't ever feel frustrated with hitting targets or PB's because in time you can specifically attack a run or target. The Bridge to 10k is awesome and will get you to 10k comfortably I feel. Your 10k time would be around 68-70 mins I guess as a rough guide. The plan though makes you stronger and gives you endurance so really as you go through it and at the end if it you become a different runner with more experience. Buzzing for you!!! You are ready for it, go get em!
I have short running socks... they are the best ever so enjoy! π§¦π. Bet you canβt wait for the new shoes π π they really do make such a difference!
Your PB for 5k is brilliant! .... I do a 5k in 37 mins! 30 mins for a 5k will take some doing...
You are doing so well πππ definitely you can do it!
I was considering the plan... the distance one rather than timed ...
I did a surprise 10k earlier this week and was super chuffed but Iβm still consolidating snd mixing things up a little with short, medium and slower longer runs
I look forward to reading your posts... enjoy your birthday treats... let me know what the longer socks are like ππ» Iβm presuming they support calfβs? π
Haha, it's not my birthday, I get flowers every week(!) πbut he knew I really wanted some kind of compression socks. I'm prone to calf tears, have been a dancer and exercise teacher in a past life so I'm really careful so always run with long socks to protect my calves. Looked at the calf protectors but my socks do the same thing. Thinks it's probably psychological as well, I just feel better protected!! ,πββοΈπ
For a recent 'big' birthday (the clue is in the username) my family bought me a Garmin watch and aftershokz headphones. I was delighted. My friend reached the same age last year and got a gold necklace/earring set. π€·ββοΈ
You have a great speed for 5k, well done. Youβll be able to slow down on the longer runs on the 10k plan to allow yourself to run for longer. You will probably also find that without trying, your speed on shorter runs increases as you get more longer runs completed. Happy running π€
Look forward to seeing you on the September magic plan! I've heard many people go on to run half marathons without ever doing a sub-30 5k so shouldn't be an impediment for 10k.
thanks!! Had a look at the sock bouquets, haha not sure he's up to that standard!!! Looking forward to joining the magic plan, will be good that other people are also all joining at the same time. I love the encouragement on this forum, keeps me going!
