Fastest run in ages and the GPS failed so no bling!!

Just a quick one before I leap in the shower and dash off to meet my mate. I’ve not run since Sunday because I have been feeling a bit ropey this week ( I have blood test and BP check tomorrow morning🤞) but this morning I felt a lot better so went out for a quick trot.

And I was flying!! Well for me anyway. I usually start off around 8.30 min/km and then plod around 8.15 once I get going and then drag myself round the last bit at anything between 8.45 and 9.15... sometimes slower!!!🤣

Today I glanced at my watch after about 5 mins and I was at 7.30!!! I made an effort to slow as I didn’t want to burn out too quickly but I couldn’t seem to get my legs to take any notice and for the first time ever I got faster each k!!!! Never before!!!! I ran towards the Park whereI knew there are 2 segments I usually get some Strava bling on and I was like a rocket.. ran one segment, actually overtook another ( elderly like me) runner!! ( that was a first too!!) and then ran the second segment. Glancing at my watch I KNEW I’d got at least one new PB......maybe 2!!

And then I stopped at 3.5k and walked briskly home. Only to find Garmin was being a c**k again and hadnt found the GPS!! So no map... no bling!!! Gutted!!

But I’m happy with my speed and how I felt as I ran. Really joyful and strong and that’s the first time I have felt like that and run a decent speed in over a year!!! I’ve been doing around 13:20-13-25min/miles and today was 12.05!!

Really chuffed!! Off to celebrate with a lemon muffin and a coffee with my friend and her little boy in Costa. Yay!!

Never ever done it before!!! I listened to a different podcast. I usually run with week 9 of C25k or the Bridge to 10k podcasts and they are at 150 bpm but this morning I tried a running compilation at 160 bpm. I don’t know that I kept up all the way round but I think that’s what helped. I must have been pretty consistent as Garmin thought I’d been treadmill running.

Indeed but this is the second time it’s not loaded the GPS when Ive had a faster run 😡. It’s like it knows. I always set my watch up when I leave the house so it has 5 mins warmup walk to find it and that’s usually enough. Not today obviously!!

Yeah I’ve had a couple of runs where it never found the GPS and afterwards i’m like “where’s my map”

Great run - we know you ran a blinder even if Strava didn't co-operate!!! Hope it goes well with your appointment.

Thanks and my daughter has just popped round with some gorgeous leggings for me with Dragons on and another pair with Moths ( her nickname for me) on. Bless her and they’ll obviously make me go faster too!!

I agree with WillowandSola - look at those negative splits. Don’t think I’ve ever managed that. Hope your checkup helps explain things for you and put you back on the right track.
