Running ex smoker or Smoking ex runner

Morning all, just thought I would quickly share my morning's experience. I have been an ex smoker of about 18 months. Though I recently had some personal trauma, and jumped straight back into my 20 a day habit. I have been smoking again for about the last six weeks before I thought this is really completely crazy. Its so easy to go from runner ex smoker to runner who occasionally smokes to smoker who occasionally runs to smoker ex runner. Anyway so today's my first day of runner ex smoker again... just ran a short 3 km, my lungs nearly exploded while doing it which was a great reminder why I won't be smoking again...but feel great now having completed the 3km...I hope this might help someone who may be struggling with smoking or any addiction...Good luck and blessings to you all today x

Well done, a good decision! It is so easy to fall back to old habits when times are hard!

Oh well done! 👍🏽 I am always glad to hear people stop smoking, as my mother died of smoking-related lung cancer, and it was so painful to watch.

Well done, for the run and for not smoking. Almost 7 months smoke free for me and unless sprinting I no longer get breathless when running

I smoked well more than 20 a day for more than 30 years. And I had other fun times. On 1 May 2015 I stopped it all and took up running not long after. Never got back to another cigarette. Completed my first ultra marathon (50km) last month. Running 5 times weekly. My only regret? Should've stopped smoking earlier.

Focus on that feelgood. You deserve any rewards going for your hard work. And it gets better as you go. Not every run will feel great but as each small milestone passes, doctor feelgood grows too.

Good luck 👍
