Can I just start with saying that I love this forum? I started C25K at the end of April - graduated and kept going.
You guys rock, thanks to your advice and support!
I ran for 1 hour recently, and today I completed my first 10K! It happened to be my family holiday, and we are now in France with two small children, near the sea, unknown terrain, and itβs REALLY HOT!
So I ran at 7am this morning to avoid the heat and part of my run was on a sandy beach (which sucked and slowed me down a big deal as I had to walk those sandy bits)... also I never realised that even the hard sand at the sea is not easy to run on as it is slanted towards the sea so your one foot is always landing on different level to the other, so itβs really hard on the hips!
I ran as part of #raceforlifeathome fundraising for Cancer Research UK, and I managed to raise Β£295.50 ππ»
I completed in 1hr 19 minutes.
I did it in memory of my mum who passed away 9 years ago today from lung cancer so it was important to run exactly today and raise funds for a cause close to heart.
What next I wonder?..
Pleaze let me know what you did after unlocking the 10K milestone!

What next? you could train to run 16K which is ten miles, that is another milestone run
Congratulations on running your 10k and on such a memorable occasion. Great amount of money raised for your charity. Enjoy the rest of your holiday πππ₯³π₯³
Well done on your first 10kππͺππ - a great achievement and made very special I'm sure, by running it in memory of your dear mum. I bet your children feel very proud of their Mum today!
As for what comes next - well consolidation of a new distances is always good as it will give your body time to adapt to the new demands!
After that, it really depends on what you want from your running?π€·ββοΈ Different terrain, different distances, speed, hills? You may choose not to run any further just yet..
Almorr mentions 10 miles, which is a good challenge and of course, half way between 10k and a Half!
But for today it's all about the Magic 10 - just bask in the glory! π
Huge congratulations on running your first 10k, it's a brilliant achievement, particularly when you take account of the weather and the uneven, unfamiliar terrain of the beach. I hope you celebrated well today, both your run and the memory of your mum. And a second congratulations on raising so much money for such a brilliant cause.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday and a huge well done again ππππΎπ₯π₯³πββοΈπββοΈ
To be honest, there is no way I would be able to run it had I not committed to the fundraiser and saw people donating already. Couldnβt let people down as they put money to show their trust in my ability, so I had to make myself do it π
Congratulations all round, for your effort and for your fundraising, I found that about the beach too, tide went out and thought what beautiful hard packed smooth sand, off I went and nope, ripples and puddles most uncomfortable
Massive congratulations to you on a real milestone run and distance. So emotional and rewarding for your beloved Mum. You did so well too. I remember many tough training sessions in the sand. I think you can really enjoy your running freedom now. Gradually build up long slow runs and I do mean slow (at a lower heart rate) and you can build to 7, 8 miles and beyond. Have a great break and well done you! π½ππ₯
Congratulations π₯³ that is the same time I did my first 10k a couple of weeks ago!!! I have just carried on running 3 times a week sometimes 5k or 8 did another 10k last week to make sure it wasnβt a one off π₯΅π€£ you will feel great now you have done it!! π
Great run. It was no cooler here tbf but in answer to your last question - I stopped!! Not running but just going further. π€£ It is allowed after all ππΌββοΈ.
