Suspected Peroneal Tendon Injury

Still on the injury bench, haven’t run for two weeks now. I was initially gutted as I was one week off getting my 60 minute badge but I have used the time wisely to improve my cycling. The good news is that I have no swelling and can walk pain free for most of the time. I have consulted a physio over the internet who has given me exercises to do and I am going to see her on Tuesday in person. I am really hoping that my recovery will be quick and I can get out running again soon. Has anyone had this particular problem? Happy running everyone x

Sounds like you are slowly recovering MoliJ. Its rotten luck to be injured so close to your goal. But it sounds like you'll be back out there soon. Take care xx

Glad you're in touch with a physio, they'll sort you out and your cycling will help maintain your basic fitness. Looking back you'll see this is just a short recovery hopefully. Take care🤗

Hi MoliJ! I had a strained peroneal tendon in February, four weeks before my half marathon. I saw a sports physio immediately it became painful and was given loads of stretching exercises to do as well as having it bound with KT tape. Saw the physio 4 times for intensive treatment including massage and ultrasound, didn’t run for 2 weeks, but did manage to do my half marathon just 3 minutes slower than my target time. It was a very nerve wracking time and my foot ached for a couple of days afterwards (along with everything else😂) but I haven’t had any problems since. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Sandie, I have been given loads of stretching exercises which I am doing religiously 3 times a day. I am hoping I will know more when I see the physio on Tuesday. So glad you managed to do your Half Marathon. It’s very positive that you have had no further problems. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 that it’s the same for me when it has healed. X

Meant to ask, did you walk much when you didn’t run for 2 weeks or do any cycling?

I walked the dog about 2 miles a day but that was all

Oh no! Just read this. I know we were up to same point. I have been away for two weeks and feel like it might be too challenging trying for week 8 after the break. I’ve done a couple of short runs so not strictly following plan but hoping to get to 60 mins soon. I have signed up to do juju plan again in September to do the distance challenge. Hope you feel better and can join in soon x

Thanks Robo20, I too have signed up for the magic plan in September. My ankle is much improved after physio. I am hoping that I will be running again in September. I have been maintaining fitness by cycling regularly. Did a 20km ride yesterday. I was gutted to get injured after being so close to the 60 minutes but such is life. Hopefully it’s a blip in the grand scheme of things. See you on the plan in September xxxx 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
