Jealousy over injury!

I've rested for the last 4 weeks and my hip pain has got so much better. I can walk without pain but I got a few twinges when I went to buy new running shoes on Wednesday. I have spent the last 4 weeks looking longingly at people plodding, pounding and prancing along the pavements that I couldn't take it any longer and went for a small jog this morning. I warmed up loads, stretched and then did the W1 run of C25K so I only did small amounts. Yes I got some bearable pain but every time it was a walk section the pain stopped. I've really had a good stretch and foam rollered. Hopefully it'll be fine and will be the start of the road to recovery and back to running. I've completely surprised myself with how much I've missed running!

I know exactly how you feel and I’m still not cleared yet. I’ve been off since August hoping to run again after next physio mid December.

You know your body, so who knows, small runs like you did might actually aid your recovery? 😀 Bet you’re happy to get out there again! 👍

Good luck on your recovery Slowly. It’s awful being on the couch and makes you appreciate running all the more when you get back.

My running partner had a similar issue this summer after we overdid a training session where running hurt but walking was good. It ended up being an IT band issue which can occur due to weak glutes/hips. Just something to think about, if you look for different stretches and rolling in this area and some hips and glute strengthening exercises. It might help.

Can heartily recommend yoga for hips and glutes. All the best with getting running again.
