Possibly injured 🤕

I went on a lovely 11k walk with my daughter yesterday along part of the Viking way. Going uphill through muddy woodland I stood on a large stick that acted like a roller. My right leg shot behind me at speed, tremendous pain in my knee shooting up my right leg. Luckily there was a hand rail or I would have been flat on my face. Managed the remaining 3k walk with knee quite dodgy on uneven ground but not painful. Elevated and iced when I got home. It's mildly achey now as are quads and hips. Going to give today's run a miss and rest it for a few days 😢

Oh dear - that sounded nasty. Quite right to take it easy for a bit - the runs will be waiting for you when you feel up to it. Might just need a day hopefully?

Maybe. My knee feels unsafe if you get what I mean. Going to have a long soak in the bath x

I know exactly what you mean by "feels unsafe". My leg went from underneath me and over bent at the knee, and I couldn't even think about running down hill without cringing! I ended up with the physio and doing lots of strengthening exercises, mainly around the hips! There were some squats in there, but also lots of stretches, for every part of the leg. So, if it continues to feel insecure, maybe a trip to the physio will save a lot of trial and error and avoid making it worse. 🙂

Good plan. Knees are deceptively complicated for what seems like a simple hinge joint.

Went for a walk today knee felt really dodgy for first 20 minutes. I wouldn’t have carried on usually but needed stuff from shops and it’s 20 mins each way. Better on way back x

Oh dear, not good! Maybe you should hang on until you’ve talked to the Physio. Sending healing vibes your way!

Yikes poor you. Fingers crossed it all calms down with rest. Take care 🤗

That sounds like an alarming fall. Glad that you are fundamentally ok and hope that you soon get back on your running legs. But let it heal properly first. Don't be tempted to rush it or you might find it gets worse rather than better, But then, you know that, don't you?

Muscles can get tense after an injury so if you can try to stretch your quads and calves.
