Virtual runs advice

I definitely need motivation to run... can anyone recommend a tried and trusted virtual run site please? One which would raise money for charity by me paying an entry fee rather than gaining sponsorship. Thank you.

Well this one isn’t for charity but it is good. You pick a number of miles to run each month and get a medal. From 25-200 I think. You can also change before the 25th if you do more or less. Only £10 including postage

The medals are fab too. I remember doing 50 miles when I first graduated and I’m secretly aiming for 150 this month 😊

That's what I am doing for the first time this month - and boy has it got me back out there. Done 41 of the 50 miles this month so far. So I second what you have said 😀

I’m doing Race at your Pace at the moment for motivation, I needed a target and a reason to drag my bottom out of bed 😂. I also didn’t want to ask people for sponsorship so paid for entry and a medal £14 in total. I chose 50 miles but you can choose whatever distance you want 😀

I did the 2.6 challenge back in April. You choose your charity and decide what your event is going to be. Maybe this is a bit wide open for you. I did a marathon over 4 runs for Alzheimer Scotland. I'm also challenging myself to run a virtual NC500 in 2020 - 526 miles round the Scottish Highlands. I'm way ahead of myself, should be finished next month. Happy running 🤗

Just signed up for a 10k in August for a small charity called Elsie Ever After. X It seemed good to help out these charities who are really losing out this year.

I think MedalMad pick diferent charities for their medals - no just checked and they do

There is a warhorses one where 25% goes to military charities

And loads more

I’m am doing LeJog virtual run, a year to do the 874 miles. There is a virtual map which goes down to street view if you chose to so you can see where you virtually are. End to end is the company and they also do a Welsh Coastal Path one.

I have signed up to Virtual Challenge's Camino de Santiago virtual challenge. It works in the same way as LEJOG but is only 480 miles. You can mix up walking, running and cycling and track your progress on their app or website. It is certainly encouraging me to drag the kids out for walks to supplement my runs.
