2nd run of the week and it was the 5k today. I've been hoping to get under the 40 minutes for a while and last week it was something like 40:40. So the last 7 minutes of the run I decided to speed up and went into Juju's mantra mode. Get this: "I am strong - I am fabulous - i can keep this up for miles" . This was the internal voice as I puffed and gasped along the road definitely not Looking fabulous π€£π€£π€£. The final minute it looked like I was in with a shout so I went all out and hey presto - 39:31!!!! I nearly blew a gasket but got there in the end!!!
Snail-Gazelle 5k!: 2nd run of the week and it... - Bridge to 10K
Snail-Gazelle 5k!
Get out of here!!!! πππFabulous result Fionamags. I'm sure that's more gazelle than snail. Brilliant that you had energy in the tank to get sub 40. You must be absolutely over the moon. So pleased for you! That progress coming in leaps and boundsπππ
Thanks and yes I am really delighted. I think I'll let that time stand for a bit though - I must have been some sight at the finish. π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅
Excellent run Fionamags and congratulations on your 5k pbπββοΈπ₯³π₯³
Brilliant!! Well done ππͺπββοΈ I love mantras too, great for self determination ππ¦
That made me laugh Fionamags! Of course you were strong and fabulous. No gaskets blown please - we don't want you exploding. Brilliant achievement and I wish I had a picture of a snail gazelle. Both are elegant in their own ways!
Yay πΎ π congratulations that's just brilliant, well done.
You must be feeling so chuffed for breaking through that 40 minute barrier.
Enjoy the rest of your day x
I love your mantra Fionamags, one to keep going with I think, I might even steal it for my end of month PB attempt, excellent result, congratulations π€ΈββοΈπππ»π₯³π€
Really well done! Sub-40 is my goal too - still far far away - so thank you for the inspiration.
Thatβs utterly brilliant.. very well done..! π€ΈπΎββοΈ
Congratulations on running your first sub 40 minute 5K, well done, those times like sub 45,40,35,30 minutes are always times that runners aim for, particularly if a runner can get a sub 30 minute 5k that runner has achieved a time that many others have never had. π ππΎ
Thanks Al - the 35 minutes might be feasible but I don't think I've got enough gaskets to make a sub30! Although I should not say never.... keeping the positive hat on. π
Never say never! I never thought Iβd start C25K, then I never thought Iβd get past two weeks, I never thought I stick it for 9+ weeks, I never thought Iβd run continuously for 30mins ................
Iβm learning my body can do more than my mind thinks it can, itβs my mind that says βneverβ my body says βnot this week but Iβm up for tryingβ or βletβs give it a goβ or βI can smash this run!β X
Great approach! I love that all the folk on here are willing to give it a go. Age no barrier OR excuse. I thought I was doing well at 61 but there are heaps of people a fair bit older than me doing amazing runs and smashing out sub 30 5ks!! Its why I love this forum - its full of really inspiring people.
What a run but what an even better mantra!!
Well done! A mantra does seem to work, I found mine today: My legs are strong, my breathing is easy, I am a warrior! It worked this morning, also a 5K in 39 mins - chipping away to that golden 30 minutes!
βοΈYou superstar!βοΈ
A sub 40 minute 5k PB needs celebrating please! π₯³
Fantastic mantra Fionamags π. I think I shall try it out - it has a really nice rhythm to it ππΌββοΈ! Well done ππΌπ
Feel free to use the mantra - just have one boot pre-sharpened for the gremlins though - they thought it was quite funny π€£π€£π€£.
Well you kicked the gremlins firmly into touch today. To take a minute off your time is a huge achievement. Well done you! π
Excellent work, it's great when you set a target then reach it. happy running π€
Well done fabulous run.
Yey well done πππππ
Congratulations and well done you
Well done you, a super time and an even better attitude and mantra! Bask in that one for a while π
Well done. Great example of using a mantra to push through tough spells.
