Are cross trainers cockeyed?

Well it’s stopped raining...for now. So we’ve been pottering around the garden under quarantine. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. I really missed gardening in Portugal. I did weed the once around the villa, but there was no satisfaction as it’s not mine and they grew back almost immediately.

Anyhoo, to the cross trainer...I managed an hour this morning and I know, outside, 10k takes me longer than that. But the cross trainer says over 20k. My Apple Watch said just over 3 miles...but I can do 5k in 33/35 mins. I’m working out twice as long and either going four times as far or half as far. Confused? Me too!! I know it shouldn’t matter. I’m able to exercise despite being in quarantine thanks to our fab neighbour and his generosity in lending me his cross trainer. But not getting my miles is killing me (ok that’s a bit too dramatic I know) but it’s bugging the bejeezus out of me. Clues anyone? Happy running peeps.

Yikes, I think you need to make a new special chart just for the cross trainer. Record it’s readings for what they are - or what the cross trainer thinks you are doing.

I agree about gardening, in lockdown in the house I’d sold I was gardening just for something to do, very awarevwe weren’t going to eat the fruit/vegetables, pick the flowers etc. Then 7 weeks in a rented cottage where I weeded the drive just because that was all the garden there. Now 1 week into our new home hubby and I have spent 3glorious days cutting hedges and grass, scrubbing lock blocks etc in the knowledge that it’s all ours yay. Happy running 🤗

Wishing you many happy years in your new home. Many thanks for suggestion. Really only got one week’s quarantine left then hopefully no more confusion around miles. Happy running and happy happy gardening to you.

Indoors I don’t trust my watch as far as it can throw me! Cross trainers and treadmills aren’t accurate unless calibrated frequently, but I’d put good money on it being closer than the watch.

I didn’t know that re inside. I am a complete technophobe. It tells me stats and I believe them. I’ll try and add a pinch of salt now. Many thanks for insight.
