My youngest boyβs 14th birthday yesterday, hence two beers and some birthday cake last night (for me, not him π€£) .
Considering it was a lockdown birthday, he had a pretty good day. School work from home during the day, and he was quizmaster last night for an online zoom quiz with extended family that he organised. The cake in question was extremely chocolatey and delicious π, not as healthy as the truffles made by Mum22boys the other day.
Anyway I set off this morning, lovely conditions outside with a nice breeze and a little rain now and again. Since getting off the IC a few weeks ago, Iβve been gradually building up by 500m increments and today I managed my first 5k since exactly two months ago. I didnβt go too mad, and felt great at the end.
When on the IC for 7 weeks from 01 May, my eating and drinking habits were not quite as healthy as normal. It does make a big difference to running and general health, so I am going to be good again and go back to healthy habits. Apart from family birthdays π of course.
Happy running all πββοΈπββοΈπ

At least he had the cake but not the two beers, good 5K run and time for you today after that 7 week break on the IC.
Now that you are back from your run you could if there is any birthday π cake left have another little bite of it but from now on, eat healthily. π
I like the way you think there Al, I might investigate a little later to see if there is any more of the birthday cake left. Would be a shame to waste it.
You've done so well getting back and taking it steadily. Now you can keep going in this vein until you feel strong and then experiment and challenge. A night well done my friend. You must feel great!
What a happy day yesterday - you do realise itβs the actual law to eat cake and drink beer (or gin) at your own kidsβ birthday parties donβt you? You did everything right Martin! π
Happy birthday to your son. Sounds like his day was so much fun. πππ
And yay to your 5k! Fantastic return. Well done! πππππ
Keep staying safe, enjoying your running and finishing off any remaining π! π
Why thank you so much Cheeky π, yes we had a nice day yesterday and Iβm happy to do my bit complying with the laws of the land on food π and drink π» π
The gin was also there, my other half enjoys a G n T πΈ
Hope all good with you, and youβre enjoying the intervals still.
Well, birthday cake should always be chocolately, delicious and not at all healthy imo! π Sounds delicious and great that your son had a good day! (We love a family Zoom quiz in this house too!)
Well done on getting back up to 5k - sounds as though you have been very wise building up gradually. π
Well done on getting back up to 5k and happy birthday to your son for yesterday. Healthy habits are good but chocolate cake and beer is necessary once in a while ππππ₯³
Great recovery 5k today - I'm sure the birthday bear and cake contributed to your achievement, very king of you drinking the bear for your son π€£π€£ happy running π€
Well I think B Cake and Beer is a good treat which means you will enjoy the extra energy as you make your way along your running πββοΈ routes . 5K is good and Iβm sure you will be increasing this distance weekly as time passes. Mmmm , just keep an eye out for that current bun ......& heat - its best friend !
Thatβs amazing speed post injury, and you are so right about the not so healthy eating impacting on our runs, iβve put on 12 pounds since giving up smoking in january and although i donβt puff and wheeze so much my legs feel every ounce
