Where am I going?

Don’t know how long or for how far yet but I’m doing my consolidation 5k runs and thinking ahead a bit! It would be great to be able to run for perhaps an hour and see how far I get....🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️Enjoying just being able to run 5k without stopping ( most of the time) and not thinking about speed just yet. 😊

If you want to run for a hour you should gradually increase the time you run, say for example run for five minutes a week more until you get to the hour, once you have ran for a hour you can then see the distance you have ran and also get "60mingraduate" next to your username.

Thanks, that sounds sensible. I’ll try to add longer times for one of the runs next week to start.

If you are happy with 5ks, you could move onto juju’s magic plan to get to either 10k or 60 minutes. You can find it in pinned posts. It’s really flexible and you can take as long as you like.

Thanks, I’ll have a look for that!😊

I agree with AlMorr and Dexy5 follow ju Ju's plan or slowly increase. Take time to enjoy the new longer routes you find. It's not all about speed, for me happiness matters too. Happy running 🤗

Yes, happiness is key for me too. Decided not to go for the next olympics....too busy!

Good morning Grannyhugs, I have just come back from running my longest ever run of 11K, I did find that last K quite tough, my average pace up to 10K was 7.28 but the 10 to 11k pace was 8.18, that's what happens when I add on a new never ran before distance.

Fantastic effort for you AlMorr and great times for your 1st 11k, maybe a few jelly babies in the pocket as a boost on longer runs? 🤣🤗

Thanks for that advice regarding jelly babies I will buy some before I run 12K next Wednesday. 😊 🏃🏾

Dates or dried apricots worked for me, or fruit pastilles- I couldn’t get on with jelly babies. Do take a small bottle of water too Al, if you’ve got the means of carrying it.

Since about week 3 of C25K I have always taken liquid with me, before I bought my running belt which does have a pouch for a water bottle I just put a small 250 ml bottle of liquid in my pocket, the liquid I drink just before I run and at the end is usually diluted apple or orange juice, but this morning it was diluted blackcurrant juice.

12k - you are inspiring me. Enjoy the jelly babies if you need them, sometimes just the knowledge that they are in a pocket is enough. 🤗

As I told Dexy5 I do take liquid with me in a pouch in my running belt when running, tomorrow when I am out for a 7K walk I will buy a packet of jelly babies and eat a few on my next run which will be my 16th virtual parkrun and 3rd (not) parkrun on Saturday morning.

I’m also doing consolidation runs of 5k, and I’ve thought about seeing how far I could get without stopping, although at the end of 5k I’m nearly spent....would be interesting though. I’ve run 5k in a straight route rather than a loop, which leaves 5 k to get home, which I’ve done with a combination of running and walking...,covered that ok. It’s nice to test your new found fitness.

So far I’ve managed 35 minutes without stopping. It’s currently taking me between 34 and 35 minutes to do 5k. Think I’ll try for 40 tomorrow but hope it isn’t too hot - not good with the heat plus hay fever is aggravated after runs.
