Question time😊

With the weather being warmer and now I'm running for longer, is there such a thing as socks to keep your feet a bit cooler. I know I can look up the internet but I'd rather ask people who have found something that works . Thanks 😊🌞

Just had a thought you can get running socks that just come over the heels 👍

Got some Balega socks and while online got myself a new pair of trainers . See what happens when women shop🤣

Maybe look at your running shoes also. Road or trail type? Waterproof socks and shoes tend to be a bit more toasty in the warm.

Its road running shoes I have as it's always roads/ pavements I run on 😊

Most road shoes have a mesh upper. More mesh should be better for letting air in.

Maybe it's just the cheap running socks👍

I know when doing other activities I use wool socks and merino wool base layers, just wondering if the same technology is available in running shoes. My merino wool strappy top can be worn right through summer perversely keeping me cool. 🤗

Try "Hilly Twinskin" socks, I have found them very comfortable to run in from temperatures from - 6C to +19C. I bought them a year ago at Run4it in Glasgow, of course they are probably closed just now.

Thanks AlMorr there are open online only 👍

I love hilly socks and buy them from my local running shop but you can get them online....but I just have the one skin and my feet get a bit toasty.....running is the only thing that warms them lol. My try your suggestion AlMorr to see if there is a difference

Just another alternative suggestion for you.

Before lockdown I and to celebrate my graduation 🎓 from c25k at end of Feb I treated myself to 1 decent pair of running socks from my local running shop.

They are Balega Enduro V-Tech Quarter Sock, which are unisex.

They were recommended by the guy in the shop and I must say I can see why. They feel very soft and light, but also give good support and my feet don’t get too hot running in these.

Luckily I received two more pairs of them for my birthday last month, which was the best pressie I could have hope for 🎁

Happy running 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️👍

I bought some balega ones and they are the socklet type. Even though they have wool in them they keep my feet cool. About £13 a pair

I got a free pair of Balega ankle socks with my subscription to runners world. They’re great and I will probably get around to buying more. I have run with them throughout this past summer and have not noticed my feet getting hot. It’s bloody cold now though with an icy wind blowing up from the Antarctic!

Come to work with me Buddy, we walk through a squidgy disinfectant mat every time we go through the gate and depending on shoes get wet feet every time 😂

Being more sensible I’m no help as have feet of fire and get cross with them and tell them off most days but that’s the bane of psoriasis hot itchy sore feet

I have several pairs of More Mile socks Buddy. They’re super comfy and I’ve never suffered from hot (or cold) feet. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

+1 on the Balegas!

A few tips:

— wash them inside out makes them puffier and therefore more cushioning

— you’re not supposed to use softener. Softener decreases their ability to move moisture away from your feet.

— I find that my body cools itself much better if it’s not sweaty / hasn’t been sweaty at all to begin with. For example, if you take a shower, you’ll have that extra edge I.e. body may be better at regulating temperature. Don’t let the idea of long shower dissuade you! I can take a shower in literally four minutes. By the time of undress, shower, child off and re-dressed I can do that in 6 to 7 minutes total. The main point is running water and some soap. Probably no need to shampoo.

— I do have other socks that are pretty darn thin on the top the foot and have little tiny holes there to allow heat to escape. I don’t know the brand. Those also seem to do a good job.

— some shoes are better ventilated than others and I remember having one pair that was especially good at this. I did notice the difference that more air was able to flow through the shoe and allow heat to escape.

— I don’t consider myself someone who particularly has a problem with overheating feet. I remember noting to myself when I got the Balegas, tried the cooling shoes, etc. that I really wasn’t one who needed to worry so much about this overheating foot thing. And yet, as someone who doesn’t really have a problem with this, I do notice the difference is the above tips make.

— although the Balegas are more expensive than other socks, you can save some money by either buying through Amazon, or buying at a local shop that has a deal. My local running store has some sort of deal it’s been a while but I think it was buy four or five pairs and get the next pair free.

— The body is a circulatory system, and does regulate blood flow to the extremities by constricting or dilating blood vessels sending blood there. I guess my point is theoretically, I would think that if you keep the rest of your body cool, that this should also cool your feet some. Taking that shower before hand, or even washing the feet before hand if there’s no time for a very quick shower , wearing light clothes etc. should help the feet

I hope this helps!

More miles running socks I find good, not too thick, I don't know of anything better for hot feet.. other than blocks of ice..but that would probably slow you down!😰😂

I have a pair of 1000 mile socks which are double skinned, nice and comfy but too hot especially at the warmer time of year....👣
