IT WASN'T PRETTY....

So today, in France it's 15⁰ and sunny. I started out on my Magic 44 minute run with no GPS signal and my downloaded playlist - I've run out of data on my phone! Forgot to bring my Fitbelt so put my phone down my bra 😅 Runkeeper was working though. I thought I'd struggle with this so decided I'd go slowly. I was right I did struggle - infact I don't know quite how I did it. I was trying to breathe in good clean air through my nose but my breathing wasn't great. I was bored with my playlist. I definitely need something to keep me going but I don't know what. Next time I go out here I'll be wearing shorts and a vest - I was too hot. It was comforting to see a french guy who had run in the opposite direction to me earlier running back the way sweating and looking just how I felt! I know I've done it but I'm not feeling great about it. I'm actually wondering why I'm doing it - does that make sense?

At least you did it and in the sunshine

I did it in the wind and rain and loved every minute

We gave up the magic plan after the 44 minute run because it was a struggle and just did our own thing for a while, today i ran an hour very slowly so have increased

Mind you i loved being part of the magic plan group so i’m not suggesting you give up just that some runs are tough and some are fantastic

Nothing makes sense in this because you should have had a fantastic run in the sun and i should have had a rough run in the rain

Your next run will be better so look forward to it

I also enjoy the Magic Plan because it's structured and I know what I'm doing. If I was left to my own devices I don't think I'd progress. It's a fine line isn't it? I was thinking about it afterwards and realised that I had completely overlooked the fact that I'd actually run 7k for the first time! 🤦‍♀️

That’s fantastic, now i’m jealous and wishing i had carried on but 6k is great for me, you are way faster too so if it feels tough slow down a bit, i can fun faster for longer than i used to then slow right down again, today was slow but wind rain and a snarling dog were against me

When I started the C25K I thought I'd just be happy to run 5k three times a week so I don't know where I'm going with this atm. When I ran 6k last week I was thinking - that's only 4k off 10k and now I'm thinking 7 is only 3k off 10! I'm going to persevere and try for the 10 but my aim is to run it comfortably otherwise there's no point. The daft thing is I thought I was running slowly 🤷‍♀️ I am also very lucky to be running in the sunshine. I left snow behind so I don't envy you that. Ten out of ten for getting out there!

A colleague greeted me yesterday with “i ran 4.2 miles” and is signed up for a 10k race in May my 6k was 3.74 miles and i’m a tiny bit jealous because i want to run longer, i will never be fast and i don’t want to run races but get such a kick out of being able to run oh and she’s about 20 years younger than me

I know what you mean. I started the C25K because I kept thinking 'I wish I could run 5k like them' and then I thought 'why can't I?' And now I can 🤭

Yes exactly that, my daughter started first and sent me a text they had managed about half of run 1 week 1 i told Willow and he looked horrified, said just because they are doing it we don’t have to a bit of arguing entailed where he said he wasn’t running and i said he didn’t have to but he insisted on driving me to a park with a track we knew and when Michael said ru n off he shot like a bullet out a gun and at the end of one minute was bent double gasping i thought i was going to finish him off but after that he was more keen than me although he’s been more reluctant during winter

It's funny how you can get so hooked on something that makes you gasp for breath!😂

The struggle runs are a pain but once you complete against so called odds and on reflection you feel a sense of achievement I’m then ready to go again With a plan Ju-Ju’s magic plan is a real help in focusing the mind and having a structure in place pick a week that you feel comfortable with and just enjoy the running - keep going you’re doing great👍👏

I didn't feel that great when I'd finished but looking on the bright my next run is a shorter one! 👏

I can't wait until we have the weather for shorts, I still have to buy them though as I wasn't confident enough to wear them maybe this year.

I think we do get runs where we start questioning ourselves , why are we doing this and then you get a great run and all faith is restored. Hope you're feeling better now🤗

Good idea! That'll keep me busy. Do you listen to anything while your running?

I made a music playlist on spotify and try to change/ add new songs every now and again . For my run on Wednesday I was looking for something else to listen to and spotify had 'Hits from the movies ' its was okay and anything I didn't really like i just skipped it 😊

7k in under 45 mins sounds fantastic to me. Well done on a great run. Sorry you are getting bored. Do you need to seek out new routes? Happy running

Thanks Grannytobe - I did realise after I'd posted, that I'd actually run 7k for the first time. I probably shouldn't have had the pizza and red wine last night!

I think I'm also definitely needing to find other routes and different playlists!

I get that with playlists....I find shuffling it helps but I now use some of apple music’s ones that are updated each week to give me a bit of variety. Hope your next run gives you your mojo back

Haha I have been thinking about this. I was using Spotify which has used up my phone data so I'm going to have to download something now which is not a problem . How I wish my Ipod hadn't died! I could so do with it now. I also thought that I might download an audio book! That would last me a couple of runs. It needs to be really interesting/gripping to keep my mind off how tired I am though 😂
