Well..here I am again.....the Last, ( Jounce), Post
The response to the Quest has been quite simply, fantastic.
Reading your run reports and your weekly post updates has been inspirational. It kept me going whilst on the IC and prompted me to maintain my own running schedule and to stay focused.
Congratulations to each and everyone of you...many of you have completed what you set out to do, despite wind and weather; and if you have had to lower your sights through injury , illness or just trying to dodge life's curved balls, you have come back with style, and been kind to yourselves, also.
The quests show just what we are capable of, as individuals and, in conjunction with the terrific support of our friends on here.
A new Quest is waiting in the wings... I have loved taking part in this one with you... what a way to start a new year.
You folk... you are absolutely amazing. Thank you !
Love Floss x

Thank you Oldfloss for making the New Year a softer landing.
My goals got slightly muddled along the way - I didn't achieve 150 active minutes every week but I did get at least two yoga sessions in every week so that was strength taken care of (assuming I fit in a practice later I will just miss my aim of 'more often than not' but really only just) Nothing like the weight loss I hoped for but at least I weighed in at fractionally less this morning than I did on 1st January, despite a lot of crazy spikes in between. I did achieve 4 swims (now past Litton Mill on my virtual Derbyshire River Wye swim) and 4 runs, carrying a very heavy heart to leave Google at home but the more I go the more I'll get used to it. It really really helped to have the Quest to keep fitness part of my life.
I have something up my sleeve for February what with the first anniversary of my father's death, my runniversary and all sorts of other stuff...
(I am now going to read poems so I can tick off another of my month's goals)
Thank you for looking after us so well in January floss. Unfortunately, I havenβt run since Saturday as I picked up a particularly nasty cold and spent a lot of time in bed over the last 3 days . I even missed out on a gourmet evening with Oldgirlruns and mr and Mrs Coddfish - must have been bad. π€π€§π·
A slow run might happen at parkrun tomorrow if the weather is okay and my tubes are clear. If not, Iβll turn up for breakfast at the end.
I have loved taking part in my first quest and thank you so much for all your kind words and motivation. Overall I think it has gone well, I have run 3 times each week and managed 13 sessions of yoga. Unfortunately I seem to have finally succumbed to the many bugs my 2 darling boys have been coughing and sneezing at me for the past 3 weeks but hoping to be fit enough to start the magic plan in a couple of days.
I'm afraid I am a novice... is there a quest every month? If so I can't wait for the next. X
Thank you so much for leading this January Quest Floss, we were in very safe handsπ
I'm happy that I was motivated enough to do 23 hours of Yoga/Pilates/Strength and Physio over the month (Strava keeping tabs), with something every day.
I did go for a few walks, but whilst I enjoyed them, my foot complained like mad afterwards.
I managed to stick to dry January, until this evening when the thought of a glass of red wine with supper was too enticing... shhhhπ
I'm still stuck on the IC but able to feel positive thanks to the Quest and enjoying reading of everyone's acheivements.
Wow! Bluebirdrunner you are so focussed and that glass of red was well deserved or mummyβs Ribena I used to call it when daughter was small. You need your Vitamin C x π
Thanks for being there for us all, OF. You are the greatest! I missed running this morning since I looked out and saw snow again, but by the time I noticed it had melted, I had to travel to get my son from college for the weekend. I will try to run tomorrow....
Thanks to you too Floss π although separated from VRBs by thousands of miles, feels a lot closer on here. Did parkrun this morning and missed a PB by 2 seconds, so one more attempt next week and then some gentle runs before my 10k race in 2 weeks and have just joined Jujuβs plankety plankathon 3 minutes workout eek! X
Fell between stools on my last run of the month, couldn't decide if I wanted to do 6k quickly (5'00"/k pace) or 10k gently (5'30"), couldn't decide whether I could take on a gusty wind or not at the faster pace, tried, failed, thought I'd therefore go to 10k, but ended up packing it in after 7k at around 5'20". But there's always February
Onwards and upwards!! And all the best outside of running β¦.
It was all going quite well. I did some speed work as planned, got back up to 14k, had two weird runs which worked out dead on 6.00 pace for a 5k and dead on 7.00 pace for a 7k.....so exactly 30 minutes and exactly 49 minutes respectively....what are the odds unless you are really trying to do it?
Sadly this week has been a disaster. Minor bruising apart, everyone is ok, but Mrs BC was involved in an RTA. She is fine; obviously shaken and a bit bruised, but we need to get to the bottom of why it happened, so lots of medical follow up to come. So a one driver/one car family for the first time in many years. Working through that will be a challenge! I know we are lucky to have had that independence, but our whole life style is built around it.
One casualty this week was running; I missed a whole week, but managed to squeeze in the 49 minute 7k yesterday afternoon ( I never run 7k!). Just a question of running until I reached a swampy bit of path at 3.5k and turning and running back. Quality thinking time. Just thankful things didn't turn out to be a lot worse; problem solving brain is now in gear π.
Thanks Floss. Head is clear and focussed; just takes a couple of hours to reboot. Have just had a great brunch with a mix of friends and people we hardly know. The latter included a 70 year old runner wondering whether to give it another go after a 2 month layoff...he emerged suitably enthused. π
Thanks for steering us all so positively through this quest Floss.
I've had a great start to my running year which has really helped in managing a very stressful time at work. Though I've not run on alternate days as planned I have run at least 3x a week and I'm still on track to get my 1000k in this year and am working on improving my pace over shorter distances (though still waiting to see real improvement π).
This running is about so much more than running isn't it?
I found that running...a lot.. especially lovely long slow runs made a massive difference to my short distance speed..just after Christmas got a really fast( for me) 1K...and in the speed challenge on the marathon.forum..really improved my 5K speed.
Just running and letting it evolve, rather than pushing.
Thanks OldFloss for your support this month- thanks to you I have run 3 times a week for the past 4 weeks. I feel like I'm back in the groove.
I've also taken up yoga, my God, I thought it was supposed to be gentle exercise but it's brutal! My hamstrings and core are definitely feeling it, so it must be doing some good π
I loved following this jounce, and keeping up on everyone's progress. Thank you for the encouragement! I only went out for one run in the last week, and cut it short because I just wasn't up for it at all/the gremlins got too loud. But thanks to a good week prior, and knowing I need probably benefit from a rest, I won't give myself a hard time. It was one run more than nowt! And February is a new start π
