Not a run but....

After my health problems today has been a low day, then i had a text from my daughter to say did i fancy a dark muddy walk. I thought why not? so off we went up into the Downs with the dog throwing a flashing light ball and slip sliding as we walked.

We stood and looked out across the village and the nearest town and felt on top of the world.

I looked up to the stars twinkling in the blackness as we talked about the best bits of having a dog and agreed that dark muddy walks were the very best

Flu can leave you feeling weak and totally fed up but a walk in the cold dark slippery night is a huge mood lifter, it won’t be long and we will be running again

Have a good week all and many happy running miles

As much as I never really want to walk my boys in the rain and the wind and mud when I leave the cosy house, it is a wonderful thing to be able to do! And I mostly feel better when I come home!

It felt great to be out, considering i was dozing on the couch and i feel way happier now

Sorry to hear that you were having a low day - nearly part of the course when you’re unwell and makes recovery that wee bit harder! Glad to hear the walk helped - top marks for saying yes and doing it!

Nice to see you getting out there. I love looking down on towns from upon high... still not mastered the art of running up there yet of course. Our dogs can go for their first ever walk on Saturday... we have little kitten harnesses for them as even XXS puppy ones were too big!

Aww that’s going to be fun taking them out, we spend a lot of time up there and in the dark it’s really special very slippery though

I shall... if they decide to walk. The girl (best not use the B word 🤣) tried them all on in pets at home ok... the dog tried one and then refused. She doesn’t like hers and he looks at us with a “I told you in the shop I didn’t want one” look. So far when a lead is attached they just sit... but I guess it’ll be different when they see trees... and ducks!

Your dogs really need a jacket where as I have a jack Russell and every time I put a coat on him he stood still and refused to walk🤣

So nice of your daughter inviting you to go a dark muddy walk after you were feeling a bit low after your health problems earlier, nice walk in the mud, at least some of the walk would be muddy after the rain we all have had, nice looking at the lights down below and the stars above, sounds magic. I just hope your flu clears up very soon.

PS, congratulations on not smoking for two weeks, they say that giving up smoking is very difficult, as I have never smoked I don't know if that is true but I hope you will never smoke again.

I gave up smoking around the same time I started running over a year ago. And now I can't stand the smell of the stuff at all. Maybe my lung capacity has improved so when I run past a cloud of smoke it literally makes me retch . Gulp down the fresh delicious air on your muddy walks/ runs and soon you won't miss it at all. Best of luck and get well soon x

Yep. Agree with it all. We owe a lot to those dogs who get us out no matter what! Glad to hear you regaining your zest. 👏🏼

Flu does leave you feeling blue, doesn’t it? But thank goodness for daughters and dogs and dark muddy walks! Hope you are soon up and running again.

Flu is frustrating as it’s accompanying cough seems to last forever but pleased to hear you’re on the mend. Congratulations on being smoke 💨 free. It’s not easy but the best decision. I’ve never smoked but remember my dad giving up. Love walking on the Downs at night. My partner & I go up there every Bonfire 🔥 Night to watch the many fireworks displays across the weald to the north & towards the southerly sea. Wish you a speedy recovery, you’ll soon be running again 😊👍

Thank you, it was so good to be out, we have been feeling low, as to the not smoking two weeks ago i couldn’t breathe without oxygen and every day now it’s easier to breathe so hopefully a run later

Wow that’s scary & a traumatic start to the year. With the stress of your Xmas working behind you, being smoke free & having running in your life expect your health will rapidly improve. You’ll soon be running along the promenade again 😊

You are doing yourself a real favour by delaying your runs after the flu. How wonderful to get out and walk though especially with a lovely daughter!

The runs are waiting & spring will soon be here 🌷🌷🌷
