Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Hubby & I had to be at a conference all day so ran early. No.1 son didn’t have a soccer game today so walked to park run & ran it in 20:14. He told me that he jogged it 🤣
G'day RunWillie, talking about walking and jogging, this morning I got a lift to parkrun by a friend who lives near me, when I was on his car going to it we noticed two runners running uphill towards the start, they both ran the parkrun and coming back on my friends car the same two people were running back home after running at the parkrun, my driver friend thinks that those two runners must have run at least 15 kilometers today.
I often carry on after parkrun (only 8K in total yesterday) but find Parkrun a great way to start a longer run otherwise I'd never get up early enough to do a longer run before it gets too warm in the summer. Although, being the UK, the weather actually got worse yesterday afternoon. Also it's a great excuse for my slow times if I do a 10K and my PR was also slow!
Thanks damienair 👍🏻No.1 could be really speedy. He currently only likes running during his soccer & basketball games. He thinks just running is boring 🤷♀️
Lots of volunteering at the moment as long Sunday training runs beckon. Doesn’t stop Katnap though, he’s still running anyway. Second week of timekeeping with eldest kitten, and at least it didn’t rain too much this week. We had 344 this week with lots of tourists (no surprise really!). No trip to the cafe as we had to get back to watch the footie! We’re missing our pastries but they’ll be well deserved after tomorrow’s HM 😬
After 2 weeks of no ParkRun, today I went to Valentines Park in East London. It was the centenary celebration of the local athletics club, so the atmosphere was nice and festive.
This was the first time since late June I was able to run 5K non-stop and almost got a PB, so quite happy with that
Suffering from damage to the sciatic nerve since last Sunday afternoon. It’s a pain but fortunately got to to see my physio on Wednesday so lots of exercises to do. The mornings are the worst time.
Took a gentle stroll down to the event as UpTheStanley was RD and cheered a few people on. About 450 participants today.
I am so sorry Dexy that you are on the IC due to your sciatic nerve, I hope it won't be long before you can get back to running but in the meantime just rest and read all the reports from parkrun runners today.
My halo is shining again this week - Jenny and I did Eastville again 😇 We’ve vowed to only do the easier ones as a treat every few weeks!
I’m still way off where I’d like to be, but I ran marginally quicker than last week and actually felt strong. My goal is not to slow down so much on the hills; I can run them all, but I don’t half crawl. 🐌😅
Saw my super speedy work colleague who was a bit disappointed to come 3rd overall in an “ok” time of 17:21. What?
Hills are good for training CC, good run for you today, goodness being disappointed running a time of 17.21 at parkrun, that's a time the vast majority of parkrunners can only dream of.
They certainly are AlMorr and I used to run them all the time. Then I got on the slippery slope of running flatter parkruns and avoiding running the hills on my local common - and boy did I see a difference when faced with a hill. I’ll get it back though, I’m determined to! 💪
Yes, he’s a natural this young chap. He’s only run 8 PRs in total, and has placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd (in 4), 4th and 7th (his first one). Amazing to see! 💥
@cheekychipmunks, I notice you have tagged me CC, at AlMorr, it then changes to blue with the @icon but when I tag anyone with the @icon it just stays the same, no tag, I am not sure why..
Hi AlMorr . Excuse me interrupting but just wondered. Do you use the @ on your keyboard or the one in the "reply" box. When I use the one in the box and start to type a name it comes up with a list of names to select from .Once selected they go blue ( apologies if you already know this, it's just a thought)
Hope you are keeping well-I'm still reading the posts just not so good at posting myself and replying recently!
I’m no expert, Al, but as Week7 said, it works when I type the @ and, with no space, start typing the person’s name. A little list pops up to begin with, and you can either pick from that, or continue typing the full name until it’s the only one left. AlMorr - I just did it there. I use my iPhone and it usually works a treat.
Thanks for that information CC, I think it's my Android phone that is at fault, I have done all those things you mentioned, however, I won't take the phone in for repair as everything else is working fine.
Very well done cheeky and Jenny. I’ve missed the past two parkruns, had a family event yesterday and unfortunately did not have time to fit in a parkrun. I’ll make up for it next week.
Good afternoon Damien, today was my 91st parkrun where I ran at the parkrun nearest to where I live which is Palacerigg Country parkrun, (#13there) I got a lift to it by my friend Gary who lives just down the road from me, the weather was cloudy with very light rain and drizzle, I wore a light rain jacket given to me by my next door neighbour whose dog Holly I take a walk every day at 2pm, my time was 34:41, it's quite a hard trail course with a uphill trail over the last 1500 metres
Volunteering for me again this weekend. Geoff caught covid last week and I lost my voice although I have tested negative three times and felt otherwise OK.
Luckily my voice was back so I could do First-timers and Funnel manager/ Token Support.
Tomorrow will be my first solo RD at juniors because my DBS has come through and been registered by parkrun.
I was worried that I might have to lip synch the briefing if I couldn't speak but all seems fine now.
Parkrun number 77 and visit number 18 to Hafan Pwllheli.
An overcast, mild but very windy morning.
More people than normal there today because of the school holidays and the National Eisteddfod which has been on all this week in Boduan just up the road to Nefyn.
I take my usual place near the back and let the first timers tire themselves out over the first kilometre. My pace is OK but not spectacular. The beach is firm in places and slightly soft in others.
I get to the turnaround point, ask the marshal for a "99 with chocolate sauce" and take a couple of photos.
On the return leg the wind which had been at our backs is now blowing at an angle of about 30° from the front and left, with the waves crashing on the shore. As we curl round the bay, our angle to the wind changes to being head on.
I decide to adopt a run/walk for this bit, using a pair of ladies in front of me as a marker.
At the very last moment a guy zooms past me on my right, finishing four seconds in front of me.
My official time is faster my previous two attempts here, at 32:09, and I placed 58 out of 107.
A parkrun volunteer looks across a beach towards runners who are about to finish.
Car park marshalling at Portsmouth Lakeside this morning - one of those roles which enables you to run too. Very pleasant today in the sunshine with lots of waves from parking parkrunners! Back up to 256 finishers after last week's sub-200 and my usual (for the time being) jeffing didn't lead to any hernia-related issues, so a run is a run!😀
Still in France, which is a parkrun free zone. However Shake-and-run and I went for our usual 5k run with the Eymet Running Club yesterday morning, which is a kind of (not) parkrun. Only 4 of us this week, but a nice flat and shady run in the heat.
