Help and suggestions please. I've been training for my first 10K on the 9th Feb. I was going great guns but have been knocked for 6 with a chest infection. My last training jog was on the 1st Jan. I'm not fully recovered but need to keep up the training to achieve the10k by 9th Feb. I was training first thing outside but was feeling ill so thought I'd try at the gym after work. Any suggestions\advice will be so much appreciated.
Thanking you
Kind regards
Jo

So sorry to hear that your ill. Unfortunately all you can do is rest. Otherwise you risk making things worse. Your body is fighting hard to fight off the chest infection. It is just going to take time. Rest up, and get well soon.
Don’t put yourself under too much pressure for the 10K. Take part in it. In a large 10K the crowd has a way of pulling you along and you can also take the odd walking break if needs be. It is bad timing I know. It’s just this time of year. Get well and there will be other 10K’s. just don’t do too much until your feeling right.
Sorry to hear about chest infection but best advice is wait till you fully recover or chest infec8could become worse and deeper rooted taking longer to recover. Friend in ICU for last 6 days with chest infection gone bad and also affected her heart. Sorry, rest. Take care.
You will not like it but if it’s below the neck don’t train. When you are better do slow long runs once or twice. Remember it’s a finish you need not a record time 👍🏼if it takes you two weeks of rest to get better you will still have time for a couple of shake down runs. Get well soon.
