This morning I got up bright and early (0600hrs) and off to the gym I went all focussed and ready to do the workout that the trainer put together for me to help improve my running.
20 mins warm up on the rowing machine nearly finished me off before I started but I moved on to my leg curls, leg press, chest curls, standing rowing and finally some core training with 'bird dog'... who thinks up the names of these? With each set of my workout I could see how it is going to help my running, not only with strengthening my legs but also helping strengthen my chest, back and core.
I finished the workout off with a 0.5km swim and felt amazing.
When I started c25k i kept saying that i never thought i would ever run and now running has got me in the gym but I have never felt better about myself.
The last 4 months have been an incredible journey and I now have my sights on my first 10km (in a few weeks time) with thanks to this group.... In August I only set out to run for 60 seconds and look at me now!

Well done I went the other way gym to run. Gym is fun but I keep choosing running over gym now. I might do some weights tonight after the run hmmm.
You beat me again. At 5am this morning I turned off the 6am alarm and slept to 7. It was worth it but I now have a late night run to do when the wife gets home to switch over child care 👶👶👶 still it’s only a short one. I have switched to distance now with you as I did 60 mins Sunday. So standing still for 5 weeks is not an option.
Enjoy the gym aches as you will find some nice new muscles.
Oh joy, I do miss the achy legs after each new run lol! So glad I don't have to worry about childcare and instead just have to worry about getting myself out of the door, I have such admiration for people like you that have to fit this all in around family.
You are doing fantastic to be able to run for an hour! I loved my 8km run however it will be interesting to see if I like it again when I do it next week lol. I am doing my 4km run on Thurs night and then going to do parkrun on Saturday for my 5km one.
Just finished a memory lane run for my 4K. I ran my old C25k route but ran it all instead of the 10 mins warming up and down being part of it. Just got back to the door and though that was a bit short!!!!!!32mins 4K is a faster pace than Sunday’s 60min 7k so hopefully my week end 8k does not take much more than an hour. This week 5k Thursday 8k Saturday and then a Santa fun run with all the kids at Burghley house Sunday. We do it every year but walk it. This year there may be some jogging 🏃♂️ to show off my new skills lol. Unless the 8k kills me then it’s defo a walk again.
What a fantastic run, it is great to get home to think 'that was a bit short' when only such a short time ago running for 5 mins was such an effort... enjoy the Santa run, jog, walk with the family as that is an amazing start to the festive season
