Hello wonderful people, this is my first quest after having a very long sabbatical. Please bear with me as I find my feet again....
So it’s now December. This month is a busy time for many people, and it can feel overwhelming trying to be super organised and do everything. With that in mind, my suggestion for this month is one of the following:
🦋Something for you..... to take a moment, help you relax, de stress etc. For example this might be going for a massage, practicing mindfulness, yoga, going for a nature walk or just making time to be still and in the moment.
🌍 Try something new.... this could be anything.... but go out of your comfort zone to do something that you might not have before. For example for November I’ve been learning how to disco roller skate 😬
⚡️ A goal, which could be fitness / running related. For example to run 3 times a week, reach for a new PB, climb Mount Everest etc
Of course, you may wish to do ALL of them 🦋🌍⚡️
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I recommend that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
So without further ado let’s get this December vibe going and have some fun.
Happy Panthering

Hi ju-ju- ..I would like to be one of your questers this month, it is a very busy time in our house so finding time will be tricky to keep everything running smoothly, I will def need some mindfulness sessions come boxing day!!! I want to go for long walk with my kids spotting frosty cobwebs,my fav. I am also aiming for a 10k pb so I'm working on that at the moment. Looking forward to this quest as I think it will make me .ore organised!! Happy running Ju xx
Hi Ju-ju I will be a quester with you. I’m studying for an OU degree, training for my first half marathon and working full time so taking time out for me is a mere dream at the moment! I’m going to aim for some meditation time this month, and hope to try something new although as yet I’ve no idea what 😄😄 x
Hi ju-ju- I’m going to kick restart my running just as soon as my chest cough goes, so close to my 10k target which I’d like to get to by Christmas. I got a bit lost over the past couple of weeks after a scary freezing 1hr run then getting my house ready for selling.
I started 30 days of yoga with Adrienne this morning so that takes my to new year, I also need to get back to ski fitness for a holiday in January. Happy running everyone.
That sounds very busy....and getting freezing in a run is no joke. Do stay warm and come back to the running only when your body is ready. The yoga will be fab for you 😎
I've used her videos lots before, the 30 day plan will keep me going. Shampooing carpets this afternoon good for core and upper body😉
Hi Ju Ju. I’d love to try and join in with the plan. I graduated 3 weeks ago but have felt a little bit lost since then so I need a new goal! Does it work in much the same way as C25K in that it doesn’t matter if you take longer than a calendar month to complete? I can definitely commit to two runs a week, but I would find 3 runs difficult with work. Thanks in advance x
Hello, the quest is ideally for you to focus on what you want to achieve, so have a think. My suggestion would be to focus on consolidating your running getting the 3 runs a week established in your routine. And perhaps think about the Magic plan or another 10k plan if you want to increase your distance. The world is your oyster now .... all I will say is, the main thing is to keep at it 😎
I treated myself to a massage last week. First one since I started running, it was blissful! Decided my New Year's Resolution for 2020 is going to be a monthly massage...so long as I keep running! 🏃🏻♀️😊
🦋 I am going to take time out to indulge & get caught up in the real reason for the season...
🌍 I am joining in the Adidas Goodby Gravity challenge! The mission: run 40.8 km by December 29. It starts on 4:12 if anyone wants to take a look.....my first real running challenge
⚡️To run 5K in 30 mins...I am realistic this may take longer than December 🤣
I would love to quest with you.... after joining a gym and have program designed to help with my running I aim to go to the gym 3 times a week, swim 3 times a week and run 3 times a week in December If i do the gym then swim on my non run days and have 1 total rest day I feel this is very achievable
It helps to be retired so nobody to answer to other than self and family, and all the volunteering, and friends wow, what a wonderful life. Truly blessed.
Yes I agree, that does sound achievable but don't beat yourself up if something comes up and you need to adjust your plan... I love swimming too, and I have just completed a swim the channel in 12 weeks charity challenge. I found it complimented my running really well...
Yes to the quest! I am going to aim to do a short run and long one (5k+) once a week as that's all I can manage until the term finishes. I also need to make time every day for mindfulness as it's been a bit hit and miss recently and this is probably the time I need it most! A sports massage might be nice at the end of term as well.
Disco roller skating sounds great fun! I hope you have a stupendously funky pair of leg warmers to wear for this?! 😁
Great plan and the massage sounds great! I try and have a massage every few months ( a regular one, not a sports one!) and I really look forward to it. Roller skating was really good fun, and I wore my disco pants.... pink legwarmers next time for sure
Hi Ju-Ju! My quest is to continue with your Magic Plan; if all goes well I should graduate on 30th December. I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself though, icy weather and Christmas festivities may disrupt my plans. But it would really be lovely to enter the new decade as a 10K runner! Though I'm still tickled pink that I'm a runner at all.
Like most people I have a busy few weeks ahead so I'm going to make sure I build in some chilling time and not to get wound up by Christmas shopping! 😊
How lovely to see you here Ju-ju. I'm on the IC for 2 weeks - physio's orders but I am doing wonderful things. I did a Chi Running workshop today and it was just fantabulous. I am so enthusiastic but I must way to try it. She gave us a metronome so I am going to have a go at running with that 180 BPM - Argh!
I shall do my exercises - wall squats and a complicated sit to stand on one leg thingy - but only every second day. I shall go to my Pilates class. I've got a sports massage booked for next weekend and I shall be volunteering at Parkrun. So I am motivated to not run and look forward to getting back to it soonish.
Hi ju ju can I be added to this month's qroup I would like to run 10k by end of December. I am almost there but just need some extra motivation to get out in the cold mornings and this Quest might be just the thing to get me up and out. 😁👍Thanks ju ju
excellent, great plan, the cold mornings are certainly hard!
Hi Ju-ju may I join please. I'm determined to stick to 3 runs per week and increase my weekly total kms (gradually) week on week. Did my first 5k in a while yesterday, so maybe I'll start with a 12k goal for week one with a 21k weekly goal by the end of the month 😊
Hi Ju-Ju, welcome back to the motivational game …..
I am pursuing marginal gains, so my quest for December is to run 2k of a 5k treadmill session at 13 kph (4'36"/k pace), having managed 1500m in November. This might be a continuous effort, or possibly be done as two separate ks, with a slower 500m in between. Depends how it goes!
The reason is that I once (4 years ago ) managed a sub-23 parkrun, and this is the pace I would need to maintain for 5k to do it again. So I'm trying to gently increase the distance I can manage at this speed. Doing it on the treadmill allows me to control the pace, which I can't manage outside.
If I tried that, I would be catapulted off the back off the treadmill. If you are catapulted off the back in the Pyramids, you might end up flying through my lounge window. I will look out for you.
My Quest this month is to build up my weekly distances by running really really slowly. I am going to do every run at a easy jog, and try to keep my heart rate at around 125 bpm. This will be an interesting challenge for me and my massive ego! 😄
Yes, although it's the most annoying thing ever! It's more about keeping the heart rate low, and I'll probably just try to go by feel as much as poss 😊😊😊
I thought I'd signed myself up but in practice I didn't hit send.
So, belatedly:
Keeping my very modest goals from last month since I didn't fully achieve them:
1) 4 runs
2) 4 swims
3) 17+ days of yoga practice
4) 150 active minutes a week (turns out shopping malls are good places to clock those up!)
I feel as though I have the remembering to relax down well at the moment with all the yoga nidra and my monthly bath target so I'm going to choose something else in that category
5) 10+ days of 15 minutes tidy and declutter. Setting a timer achieves such a lot and will help avoid mammoth sessions just before Christmas, so it is more of an investment in relaxation than actual relaxation.
I like the idea of a bit of a wild card, so I shall give some thought to something where I'll feel 'ta da!' if I've achieved it (so it will be something I've not done before or haven't done in ages).
