What about the pace? W3 B210K

I'm doing timed runs at the moment and today did 50min and run for 6.3km. The last bit is terribly up the hill (feels pretty tough for me! LOL) and my pace goes down on the return. I feel pretty slow because of that but hoping the hills will make me stronger :)

But if I'm running on more flat surface what pace should I try to keep during timed runs? Should I look at the cadence at all?

The hills will make you a stronger runner. You're trying to get to 60 minutes I would just focus on that and don't bother about any thing else. Good luck 😊

Well done, I feel exhausted just looking at that!

Personally I agree with Buddy34 especially as you move through the weeks. Adding anything extra to the long runs is hard, what about just doing the "extra" on the shortest run and just enjoying the long runs?

If you are increasing duration then you should be running at an easy conversational pace.

I agree with the advice given so far. The pace you should be aiming for is the one thats comfortable for you. You are building endurance and shouldn't worry about speed. Build one at a time not both together.

I found using the short 15/20 min runs a good time to slowly! increase my speed. Like a mini interval session, lift the pace until the tree/gate/lamppost etc then back down to normal plod for a bit then lift pace again. Nothing scientific about it just pushing myself a little bit out of my comfort zone.

The most important thing is to enjoy your run. In the words of the great Paula Radcliffe "finish happy, then you'll look forward to your next run"

Not what you're looking for?
