I've started to feel like an imposter on here as the dark evenings, weather, daughter's new schedule have been playing havoc with my running and I have not run anywhere near as much as I should or wanted to. So I was determined to go to a Parkrun today. And I did! It was really hard , I was quite near the back and felt a bit demoralised by people being on their way back when I was just about half way through. Still, there was quite a large gap between the people in front and the few behind me so I nominated myself as the leader of the strugglers π. I was so pleased to finish and even more pleased that I did it. I'm going to take part in a Boxing Day run which is quite a big event in our village ( this year it's its 40th anniversary) so I need to get the kilometres in those legs! πββοΈπββοΈ
Parkrun #5: I've started to feel like an... - Bridge to 10K
Parkrun #5
Well done Zebadee1, you are back in the game! Love the sound of the Boxing Day run, perfect antidote to festive over indulgence!
Perfect Zebadee! Well done. Donβt compare yourself to others. Iβve been doing PR for just over a year, and even though my times are improving on average. Iβm still way closer to the back than the front, or even the middle, of the pack. I start at the back too (with my dog) and it doesnβt bother me at all.
Youβre certainly not an imposter. No way. Youβre doing brilliantly. πππ
Thank you! I know I'm only competing with myself and in a way expecting a bit too much too quickly (I never run till I started C25K in May. I just picture myself running like a gazelle when in reality it's more like a hippo π. I won't give up. Just have to do whatever I can until the evenings start getting lighter π
Great you've now completed parkrun 5. A boxing day run how exiting. π€
Well done zebadee, just get out when you can, and enjoy parkrun when you can. Itβs amazing how those numbers add up. Your Boxing Day run sounds fun. Do people dress up?
Some people do, but not everyone. Most people do wear a xmas hat or accessory of some kind. It tends to be very muddy so anything too elaborate may get in the way.....there's always a lovely atmosphere and I'm quite excited π
Well done zebadee1π a Boxing Day run sounds fun π
You are doing very well indeed Zebadee1 don't worry about being lapped by the gazelles at your parkrun, the parkrun that I run at I am often lapped on second lap as well, once you get just a little quicker you will lap some runners on the third lap. π ππΎ Enjoy your Boxing Day ππΎ run.
Well done. Donβt worry about where you finish. Itβs not a race just a run in the park. Iβm usually finishing in the middle and my local parkrun is a 3 lap course. I was lapped by 2 Gazelles this morning. They were both finished after 18 minutes and I still had another lap to go. Just run and enjoy.
Well done Zebadee1. Don't worry about the speedy peeps at the front; you're out there running and that's the main thing!
I am always towards the back of the pack at parkrun as well. My times are gradually getting quicker but I'll never be troubling the gazelles! I enjoy seeing the leaders coming back towards me, it means the half way point is getting closer. Run for yourself and enjoy the company around you.
Good job Zebadee, a boxing day run sounds great...what's the distance? πββοΈ
It's about 5k cross country πββοΈπββοΈ
Sounds like great fun, and pretty challenging with being cross country...you'll be super proud after only watching it previous years π
It doesnβt matter whether you are near the back or not, itβs still a parkrun completed and something to be proud of.
I am just passing the 2k mark when the leaders of the pack are coming up to the finish line but there is no such thing as an imposter at a Park Run, just an improver. Hope you enjoy your Boxing Day run - I'm doing a Christmas day one this year!
