Made it! Slow & steady in proper tortoise mode, but 10.09k this morning, in a bit over an hour and a half. Iβm pleased. ππ Thereβs something very satisfying about a round number. And the sun even came out, albeit briefly.
Had to take the OH out for coffee & treats, as I hadnβt expected to be out so long. π€£ Well worth it for domestic harmony. And the cheese scone was good too. π (Sir had cake, of course.)
Happy running all. π

Sun on the beech trees was the best bit. Itβs been a lovely golden autumn round here when the sun deigned to shine. Have to make the most of it. π
Fantastic, well done you πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ The photo is beautiful as well, such gorgeous colours. Where were you running? It looks so peaceful.
Across the fields behind us & round & about Pennington Common. Not all peaceful all the time, as I was dodging the 4x4s and white vans all trying to use MY running space! But a lot of it was good. π
Oh my word, what an amazing thing to do and in such a beautiful place, thatβs fantastic i canβt even imagine running that far at the moment but am hopeful for the future
Keep on dreaming and youβll get there. There were moments when I though 5K was impossible! But if you donβt rush, you get there - or at least, that worked for me. π
Congratulations to you Granspeed on graduating to 10K, that is a lovely late Autumn photo you took of your 10K running route, you deserved those coffee and treats after your run
To get your 10K badge and the word GRADUATE10 π next to your username leave a message on the November graduate10 homepage and tell the administrators that you have ran a 10K.
December π π is almost here, I am just wondering how many runners on C25K or B210K are thinking of running in a Santa π€Ά Clause outfit at one of those 5K π Santa dash runs, there is one in Glasgow with 10,000 going to run, I am going into Glasgow to watch them but not run. π π€ΆπππΎ
Over my dead body! Though come to think of it, Iβll be fairly dead at the end of it if I try and keep up with Dexy! So the before pics might be ok but the after ones will definitely be of the damp rag variety!
Big congratulations. And a well deserved smile for you from the sun too. Perfect. And lovely to hear you rewarded your achievement properly with a tasty cheese scone. Delish.
Congratulations Granspeed, I knew youβd do it! You can now sign up for the New Forest 10k in September.
Itβs obligatory to celebrate 10k in a coffee shop or tea room and Iβm glad hubby enjoyed his cake. Come to think of it , most of my runs end in a cafe π€«
Break open the bubbly next πΎπ₯π₯π²πββοΈπ³π²ππππ»ππ»
I do think thereβs a special link between runners and coffee shops. After all, arenβt both thriving at the moment? π€£π Thanks for the good wishes. Youβve been one of my inspirations! ππΌ
I am actually contemplating that NF 10k. π€ If I sign up, I shall blame you....
Ooh itβs nice to be an inspiration, and youβll be someone elseβs. We had such a lovely time there in September, and we wear our shirts with pride - although people keep asking me if Iβve run the marathon. ππ
Just think, if you are running 10k , it will be less time waiting for your daughter to come in from her marathon.
Do I feel a bit of pressure? π€£π€£ No, no.... Actually, we all love that event, and it was great to meet you & UTS. I think daughter may do the HM this time. What about you? HM sounds perfect, and who knows, you might see me at the finish line.... π€π’
No HMs for me. 10 miles is definitely enough . We decided not to go for early bird tickets for NF but would see what choices are around when we get closer.
No pressure from me but we know you secretly want to do it. π
Fantastic Granspeed, so pleased for you, and all done on such a nice day and in such a lovely place. I think the first 10k gives you a real buzz like no other run. Topped off in the cafe too; perfection ππππππ₯π₯π
Well it wasnβt a chocolate brownie, but I do try to uphold the proper running traditions! π Thanks for the good wishes & support. This forum makes all the difference. ππΌ
I can see 10k being a good distance for me once I get used to it. Nice to have reached the milestone before the festive season. Following along (slowly) in a lot of good footsteps running before me. ππ
You are doing it at your speed, that is all that matters. I woke up at 10am this morning. Week of sorting problems out and 25k run already. I need to take a lesson from you and treat my legs heart and lungs with a bit more respect! You are doing brilliantly. π
I have had to take the mantra βRun your own run, not anyone elseβs.β seriously, or I would be on the IC. Itβs not been an easy lesson, but Iβve pretty much got there, I think. π
Well done to you! Congratulations!πΎπ₯π ππ»πππβοΈ π₯β‘οΈ πββοΈπ€ΈββοΈπββοΈπ€ΈββοΈπββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ And having been reading some of your posts I saw 77 was your number! So even more well dones from me. I wonder what your friends think of your running? Brilliant and it seems that you are really enjoying it too. Fantastic! πππΈ
Itβs been fun, not least for the surprise itβs provided for some folks. π Shame I didnβt get on it as a stripling of 60, but too busy then. Oh well. Might have been speedier, but weβll never know. π€£ Enjoy your running. π
Stripling! Sounds of note! My dictionary says,"a young man"!π€£ Now I' intrigued as to what you were busy at, but full time jobs and many part-time jobs together with family commitments often use more hours than available! Happy running to you! πΈππββοΈ
Female and only relatively young, of course! π€£ I think I would have made time for running - as so many busy folks do on here - if I had realised how much fun it would be. π But it was another era, of course - no smart phones with apps, no virtual community to cheer one on (Goodness Grandma, are you THAT old?). Just glad I kept going long enough to enjoy it all now. π
Yes, thoβ I partly started because I felt it slipping. π¨ I used to be a regular horse rider & hill walker, and rode a cycle for transport (not always!). But nothing else uses the same muscles as running or in the same way, so it was square one in that sense for sure. I didnβt tell anyone, in case I couldnβt do it. π€£π€£ Got through week 4 before OH and local daughter rumbled me. π
You are certainly permitted to have all the mystery you like, but I shall enjoy guessing! My first guess is significant time glued to your computer screen engaging with others on the C25k forum. Am I close? π€£
