According to Google, the distance between Edinburgh and London, if you take the A1/A1(M) is 396.1 miles/637.5 km. It's a journey I do quite regularly for work purposes.
Last night, about half way through my run, I passed that particular milestone in terms of distance run this year.
So, I guess the question is, where to next...?

395 miles - wow, that's a whole lot of running. Come and visit me at the Cape Wrath challenge week. I'm doing the 10k. Takes you in opposite direction and you can just imagine the phenomenal scenery as you go out on each of your runs. Only 258 miles.
I used to live near Kinlochbervie before I moved down south so I know that part of the world very well. Some lovely beaches, especially Oldshoremore, but having climbed many of the hills in that region in my late teens, it strikes me as far too up-and-down to be conducive to running.
I'll wish you good luck with that, but cheer you on from the sidelines...
Thankyou not sure how much I'll enjoy the run but supporting hubby who runs in a few events that week. I just thought as you'd run a distance to south east, your next distance could be diametrically opposite 😉 happy running
Weather permitting you will have some spectacular views if nothing else. As a former inhabitant of the area, it strikes me as an odd time of year for that kind of event. I can only surmise that the organisers assumed participants would rather risk hypothermia than being eaten alive by swarms of midgies...
It's not until mid May - a whole week of different lengths of runs ending with marathon out to cape wrath itself, the rest starts or finished in durness. Great week of friendship ceilidhs beech cleans etc. Money raised all stays in community. After frosts, before midges. Was shorts and tshirts on beech last year.
That makes sense; taking advantage of that brief window between winter and midgie season... My school bus used to start in Durness, work its way down past Lochs Stack, More, Merkland and Shin towards Lairg, before cutting across to deposit us in either Dornoch or Golspie (depending on age group).
We have to wait for the school buses to finish their runs before they head back to furness and ferry some competitors to start of 1/2 marathon and the rest start of 10k - both along Betty hill road. We then run back to furness. I have 6montgs to master his week, gentle downhill slopes go for knees. I'll be the one running up and walking down .
Good for you on knowing exactly how many kilometers you have ran this year, congratulations.
Well so far this year I have ran 10 parkruns, that makes 50 kilometers, 4/10Ks, that makes 90k, I have not taken note of how many other 5Ks that I have ran, I would think at least 5 if not more, that would make 125, I also ran when training for my first 10k, a 6,7, and 8K run, 9K became 10K because of a fault in my Smartphone, so that's 146 Kilometres, I also have reran a few of the longer runs of C25K, usually runs 3 of weeks 5 and 6, so all in all I have probably ran 'about' 160 Kilometres this year
Another 40 by Christmas for a round 200? I'm counting my runs since graduation, hoping to reach 80km, 50 miles this week. Sounds like a lot as I only started c25k in August
Definitely good going. Until I started this here Couch to 5k malarkey back in March, my running was basically what amounted to two 40 minute interval sessions once a week on Saturday mornings. Now I'm running 3 - 4 times a week, with my long run typically in the 10 mile range. I've pretty much forgotten what not having achy legs feels like.
My running history was holding jackets while rest of family ran and I said "bad knees, I dont do running " c25k was great for getting me into flat running.
When I am visiting relatives I never talk about running, however, if someone asks me about all the walks and cycling I do I will mention then that I have ran 5K parkruns, they usually congratulate me for that.
I do leave it low key as mentioned before, people look at you in a strange way if you tell them that you are a runner, you don't get those strange looks if you say that you are a 🧟♂️ walker or 🚴 cyclist. 😊
That is excellent Buddy34, 650 kilometers considering that you haven't ran any 10Ks yet, I suppose running all those 5Ks all mount up to that wonderful figure of 650K.🏃🏾😊
We worked that one out too. From our house in Norwich to where my daughter lives near Dundee is our mileage for the last year. Isn’t it great to put it in perspective??
