I’m not sure who to write to - is it possible to edit who follows us on HU? Followers who have no profile and who have never posted make me uncomfortable. Thank you...

Can you pm me the profile names that concern you and I’ll take a look.

I have a couple of non-posting followers but they were fine... just a little shy I think

I know what you mean. Maybe the IT team at HU can can change to a 'requezt' to follow like with other social media platforms.

I had one of these earlier in the year and it turned out to be someone who was lurking on loads of HU sites and following women, even oldies like me. The important thing is not to reply to any personal message they send. There was a pinned post from admins about this. I will try and find a link. But the answer to your question is no. You can stop everyone following you or allow anyone to follow you; no block on a specific person.

Ah ok, I didn’t know we had the option of not being followed!

This is the post about unwanted messages. It feels a bit creepy I know, but just just be aware of what you are putting in your posts.

Good bit of advice on there from you Dexy about restricting your posts to community...I've nievely been allowing all to see but will follow your suggestion in future.

Also and completely inappropriately on a post like this but every time I write your user name autocorrect changes it to Sexy!, and I have to change it back 😂...if ever I don't notice, don't worry, I'm female and it's a mistake 🙄

Yes it’s been pointed out before that auto correct does that. I’d be most flattered if it creeps in by mistake. 😂😂

Sometimes I think they are just people starting or thinking of starting. It wld be good to be able to not be followed although this is an open platform I suppose and hard to do x

If 'followers' aren't posting anything or contacting you directly then l can't see a problem. Also, many people get here and disappear soon after, quitting running altogether - whilst their profiles linger on.

Yes, I had a strange message before on here and other experiences elsewhere so I guess I like the option to stop silent followers who don’t post rather than censoring everything I say...

At the same time, we are wide open communicating strangers. We all know of and agree with T&Cs but, thankfully, this isn't twitter or, worse, Parliament. In those two anything goes. Oh boy....

One thing you can do, when you next post is to tick the button at the bottom to restrict your post to this community. So only bridge to 10k can read posts you make on that forum rather than the whole of HU.

I’ve always thought that ‘random following’ is simply folks who come here and don’t understand how this forum works. If you come from FaceBook etc it is all about following friends and interesting posts. So a newbie could see an interesting post from one of us and decide to follow. But it’s not quite the same as following (for example) my local parkrun on FB. I just think “Ok a newbie misunderstood).”

So random followers don’t really bother me. However if I started to get unwanted messages I’d be more inclined to report it.

My stance here is that I report anything posted that is clearly spam or advertising, and if anyone signs up & immediately posts about the 10km race they are hosting, I’ll ask them to contribute their experiences (and they never post again). Let’s keep this wonderful place supportive & constructive.😇

I have a friend who reads everything on the forum but rarely posts, she posted once I think when she graduated but otherwise was quite happy to read without commenting. Everyone is different I suppose and it’s OK. I feel safe on here, no issues to report

I have to admit, I usually just read and rarely post. It helps me to keep motivated

Hi. I follow posts which inspire me or give me good advice. I follow the post not the author or any of the contributors. I rarely contribute since i’m really new to any form of exercise and not confident 😩

Post on here and maybe people can help and give you advice 😊

I get what you are saying and feel the same.

I had one once and the Admins did a brilliant job of expelling him from all HU forums. I also occasionally get new followers on Strava that I don’t know, but then look at who else they are following and they have generally turned out to be genuine HU VRBs but with their real names 😂😂 Usually a quick question to somebody I know that they’re also following clears it up!
