Nervous - how ridiculous! ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™m heading off shortly to PR. Nothing new there, Iโ€™m a PR junkie and do one pretty much every weekend. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

But I found out about an inaugural one near me - Clevedon Salthouse Fields - and seeing as how my regular one in Bristol is hosting a festival this weekend, itโ€™s a no brainer, I need to give it a go!

So why am I so nervous?!! Bonkers! ๐Ÿ˜… Iโ€™m not going to say wish me luck because that would be plain ridiculous! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Happy parkrunning/running this weekend guys!

Youโ€™re right IP, I was excited about it! And it was fantastic fun. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ A beautiful morning too, albeit pretty toasty. Loved it though. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Yes definitely Floss. Itโ€™s not often weโ€™re given the chance to run an inaugural PR, so there was no way I was going to miss it. It was brilliant too! ๐Ÿ˜€

I don't know why you are nervous, unless you think you won't be able to stop @ 5km!๐Ÿคฃ

Have a great run, it's a lovely day out here today, I did 35 minutes in the dark, windy, but cool๐Ÿ˜Š

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Jell6

Haha, no itโ€™s ok Jell, my legs only fancied 5k this morning! It was surprisingly warm by PR time, but I was pleased with my time and really enjoyed it! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Great!! No I havenโ€™t been to PR for some time now. I did go out and do a 5k recently, but Iโ€™m not running as regularly as I would like to be. Itโ€™s been a bit of a weird year so far and I just havenโ€™t got my flow back on. Iโ€™m not giving up though. ๐Ÿ˜‰โค๏ธ

Aww Fab, I have every confidence in you. Youโ€™re a fantastic determined runner, and even when you get setbacks you come back strong! ๐Ÿ’ช

The problem starts next week when you have to choose between the two! Enjoy! (I'm not jealous, mine didn't even a volunteer this week! ๐Ÿ˜ก)

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to uncle_wiggy

Worse than that Uncle. Iโ€™m toying with doing Severn Bridge again - so I have 3 (even 4 if the weather is cool enough for hilly Ashton Court!). The weather will decide where I go for sure.

What? No volunteers at yours? No way. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

Sounds exciting being at the very first. you will probably see some familiar faces from your regular one. And knowing how time flies in a flash a year will have passed and you will be running in fancy dress at its first birthday have fun today๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Runsome

Yes Runsome I did see some familar faces. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€ It was fantastic - although no ๐Ÿ• allowed, but thatโ€™s ok, my son and his girlfriend are walking her today. ๐Ÿ˜€

As for its first birthday next year, no wayyy will I wear the onesie I wore at our PRโ€™s bโ€™day. I almost expired!! ๐Ÿฅต

cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Deals1

The silly thing is Iโ€™ve done quite a few tourist PRs now. I think today was my 8th. Not many compared to some I know! I think I was nervous because it was its inaugural one. Why that should make a difference I have no clue! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Lots of fun though! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Cheeky, I hope you enjoyed your parkrun today, I certainly did, I got a PB time of 30.55, the highest age grading I have had at a parkrun of 59.35% and first in my age group, I may have been the only person in my age group ๐Ÿ˜‚I was 176th out of 264 runners, all in all a good ๐Ÿƒ run ๐Ÿ‘

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Thatโ€™s it Al, you are officially faster than me now. You have taken to parkrun like a duck to water. Or do you say โ€˜ a haggis to the munroes โ€˜?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

O I am so sorry about that Dexy ๐Ÿ˜”the parkrun I was at does have plenty of water around it, it is a Loch (lake) called Lochend Loch in a country park called Drumpelliier, to the east of Glasgow near the M73 motorway, a really nice place, a bit different from my "home." parkrun at Dunfermline which is 100% a park.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

PS. I don't eat Haggis and a Munro are mountains over 3000 feet.

It was rather special Dexy! I overheard someone mention โ€œnew parkrunโ€ and of course my ๐Ÿ‘‚ pricked up (looks more like a foot on my phone - but you know what I mean! ๐Ÿ˜…) An opportunity not to be missed. Bit warm though ..... ๐Ÿฅต

Sandie1961 profile image

Unfortunately I missed the inaugural Market Rasen parkrun last year and only managed to get to the second one, which was a shame. Looks like you had a much bigger turnout though and a far more picturesque run than 3 times round the racecourse!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

Yes Iโ€™d planned on going back to the Severn Bridge with Eastville being off this week, but the lure of an inaugural PR was too strong Sandie! So glad I went - over 300 there too! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Next weekend depends on the weather. Too windy and Severn Bridge wonโ€™t be fun but I really want to go back. I loved it! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Hey cheeky chipmunk, Iโ€™ve only done my local parkrun the last 15 weeks but I am due to try one in November, another local one... I think Iโ€™ll be the same as you. Iโ€™m nervous about a new parkrun throwing me off, slowing me down, people pushing me about... Iโ€™m only small ๐Ÿ˜ข
