Distance Measuring

What do people use for measuring how far they’ve run? I’m still just timing.

Hope everyone’s OK in this heat meanwhile!😎

I started off with MapMyRun on my phone and then got a Garmin which is also linked to Strava. Mostly accurate - not always, but near enough. 👍

Yes me too I had always used Strava. Then a few weeks ago I treated myself to a garmin forerunner 35 and it's great . Lots of info stats and graphs of you like that kind of thing😊

Hi Timeoff, I just use the free Strava app on my phone. Its fun to see the recording of your run afterwards and keep a log of your progress. There is also an NHS C25k group on Strava you can share with.

Happy running 😊x

I went out in my car first and drove 3 routes close to my home. One is 3.5K which used in the early weeks of my C25K journey and the other 2 routes were 5K and 7K. I also use a Garmin Forerunner 35 GPS watch so as to track my runs and the training. I run the 5K and 7K routes a couple of times every week and I also take part in parkrun every week.

I use the free version of Runkeeper.

I have a running app called Runtastic, it’s got voice queues which I can set myself to tell me duration/distance/pace... once I set my workout I put my phone in my running belt and the voice cues tell me through my wireless headset whatever I need to know, it’s very convenient.

Garmin 35 Watch and sync to Strava

I use MapMyRun which is free. I have set it up to tell me every .5k bit you can set it to other distances. I find it really good. It gives you time, distance and average pace with splits.

I use Samsung Health app which is pretty close to that measured by car. I take off circa 0.3K to be sure covered distance.

Apple Watch. No audio cues though and cannot set my own intervals
