Saturday is my favourite day for reading the posts on this forum.
I love reading all of the parkrun reports, especially the newbies going from being nervous to over the moon.
For the record I was Tailwalker today. Quite a fast one as there were no walkers apart from a man who recently had an injury on his 91st marathon. So he was walking, but I was scurrying to keep up as his legs were a lot longer than mine

I also like reading the parkrun results on Saturday, even better now that I take part in them.
Today was my fourth parkrun at Dunfermline, not a PB but nevertheless I enjoyed the run, my time was 33.31, age grade was 54.75%, I was 137th out of 174 running, so I wasn't with what you were doing, the tailwalker.
That was three Saturday's in a row that I have ran a parkrun, there isn't one next week because of a political rally in the park, perhaps I will just go a short run around the loch nearby with the C25K app with Laura, I am thinking of putting on run 3 of week 5. 🏃 😊
Having now seen the effort put into organising this a big thank you is in order.
This is sadly true though. As I was running I kept hearing thanks and hallo shouted and was surprised by the large number of people named Marshal around... I get it now 🙄
I like Tailwalking, always something different. Sometimes a run, sometime a walk, sometimes both if the person I am with drops out after the first lap - hopefully not too far to catch up with the next person.
Usually a nice chat, once trying to stay out of a bickering session between mother and teenage daughter. Another time a different mother took the hi-vis from me because she was so exasperated that her teenage son was walking slower than slow. He subsequently dropped out and she left the hi-vis with one of the marshalls so that I could pick up as Tailwalker again on the second lap.
Tailwalking at junior parkrun is entertaining - small boy stopping to pick flowers, small girl sitting down so that her dad could wring out her wet socks, "racing" with same small girl to the next target so that we could beat her dad (and get her to the finish!)
Well done. Tail Walker is one volunteer role I have yet to do. I love the post parkrun posts here too every Saturday. I had a jam packed day today with family so just catching up now.
I’ve done pacer a few times. That’s a nice way to get in a volunteer day and a run. Although I feel guilty afterwards. I usually do a volunteer day without a run every 5-6 Parkruns. Barcode Scanning, Stopwatch Timing, Marshal, Communications, pacer have been done a few times.
It sounds like you do more than your fair share of volunteering damienair; no need to feel guilty. There are the many who don’t feel the need to volunteer at all that I don’t understand.
Oh wow, well done RunaroundSue , I love all the people at parkrun, they're what makes it for me....I love the atmosphere but often feel inferior when folk are sprinting passed my flailing carcass but I still do enjoy it.and I too love reading peoples parkrun reports x
I love Saturday’s for Parkrun and then coming on here to check everyone’s updates!
It was my 12th parkrun yesterday. Whilst the initial plan was just to do the runs I’ve quickly become involved with volunteering too and try to do roles that allow me to do both. I’ve opted for first timers briefing a few times now I hope I can do that regularly at my local
