Hi, thanks for asking, it was OK, sadly no magic wand though. He showed me some stretches to do to help with the piriformis which he thinks is where my problem is. Also exercises to strengthen my glutes which he says will help too. So I have to do these for four weeks, lay off running until I am walking OK with no pain / stiffness and then start off gently with maybe 1k and mix of running and walking to start with. I know I will find it hard to be patient but he did say that if I feel up to it I can try running while we're away in Scotland but not to push it if still not feeling right. He seemed pretty confident that I'll be feeling better soon so I am feeling much happier and hopeful about it all. I've just been doing the stretches and they are quite tricky for me so I'm looking forward to them getting a bit easier as I hopefully become stretchier and more like a super supple goddess than I am currently! 😂

Yes, currently you are just a goddess :)

That's great that he was hopeful and with your holiday, I'm sure the 4 weeks won't feel quite as long as it could have

😂 Looking forward to doing the physio exercises in a range of exciting holiday locations - up mountains, by the side of a loch, etc etc...

Hi Debs. That seems like a long time but it’s good news and at least you have a plan. Hope you have a lovely time in Scotland.

Thanks Stephen_UK! Four weeks does sound ages but I'm thinking that if these stretches are so good, I should probably keep on doing them indefinitely and ward off any more problems in the future... And I'm really hoping to be able to do a tiny bit of running while we're away... But if not, I will just enjoy some beautiful walks instead.

That’s good. Holiday time is the ideal time to be recovering as you will be doing so many other things. Hope the mini-runs are nice. And yes, stretches can only help.

I have kept on doing exercises given by the physio. I am running quicker and further than my pre physio days so something is working😊. Main thing is that you have a recovery plan.👍

Glad you have a good recovery plan, Debston, and I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery! Physios ALWAYS tell runners to strengthen their glutes. But for good reason - strong glutes are every runner’s magic weapon! Honestly makes such a massive difference. Have a lovely holiday! I will be in Edinburgh soon and cannot wait! x
