My hip has been grumbling on and off for the last month and after a few cycles of rest & recovery, ooh I feel OK for Parkrun, oops my hips playing up again, I have finally been to see the Dr today. He had a good prod and poke, said he can feel my muscles are very tight and inflammation in my knees, and promptly booked me in for a physio appointment tomorrow morning at 9.40am! So I can't be tempted to sneak to Parkrun tomorrow which is probably a good thing... I will look forward to hearing all about everyone else's PRs though!
No Parkrun for me this week! : My hip has been... - Bridge to 10K
No Parkrun for me this week!
hey debs, hope all goes ok tomorrow.
it's a shame you're missing parkrun, but at least it's for a good reason, right?
Sorry about you missing your parkrun tomorrow, but it's better to get your injury seen to ASAP and hopefully you'll be back at parkrun in the next few weeks, I don't have a parkrun either, it is cancelled due to a event taking place in the park, however, I hope to run a 7K around the loch nearby to where I live.
Thanks AlMorr, yes I have put off getting it seen to for too long, am hoping that physio will be really helpful. Enjoy your run round the loch tomorrow, I look forward to a full report! This time next week I will be on my way to Scotland and I really really hope I will be recovered and able to run while we're on holiday. Fingers crossed 🤞!
I will report back to everyone tomorrow, last week I had to report that I did not run at the parkrun because at the last minute if was pouring down with ☔ rain and would have meant that if I had ran I would have been sitting in a bus for about nearly a hour in a soaking wet T shirt and shorts..
Hi Debs. So sorry to hear that this is lingering on. Hope the physio goes well and that you’ll be back at Parkrun very soon. Until then, take it easy.
Ahh too bad Debs, but wise to get your hip sorted so it won’t impede future PRs. 👍
I’m not doing mine either as we’re off to a wedding, but I’ve worked out I can go for an early morning trot with my dog instead. Where there’s a will ..... 😅
Good luck with the physio. 🤞
Thanks cheekychipmunks! Enjoy your early run, what inconsiderate people getting married on a Saturday, don't they know it's Parkrun?! 😂 Enjoy the celebrations.
I love this, so close to home for me. My sister rang...(slight exaggeration for humour)
Sister: "I'm organising a school fete to raise money for YOUR NIECE'S school and I need your help"
"Yeah, of course. When is it?"
"Saturday.. 9am"
"Ohhh.. Saturrdayy..tricky"
"You better not be talking about Parkrun!"
"Don't be daft, it's my..oh, it's my.... DOG'S BIRTHDAY!"
"You don't have a dog"
"I'll be there"
I'm sure you'll get back to full fitness and parkrun will be waiting for you when you're 100% fit!. Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow at the physio Debston ✌
Thanks GMAN1977! I told the Dr about having done C25K and being worried about losing fitness. He was very lovely actually and said lots of runners get injured and have to rest and recover and maybe build back up and that I had done really well and would definitely be running again soon enough. So it must be true, cos the Dr said it! 😂 And for once he didn't say a word about my being overweight so that was nice.
Yeah, missing Parkrun is annoying, but if this appointment finally gets your hip sorted it's going to be far, FAR more beneficial. Good luck!
Thanks clubberlang, you are the voice of reason, as ever! Are you Parkrunning tomorrow?
I'm hoping so Debs. I haven't been feeling very well recently, especially in the mornings 🤮. But I've been feeling much better recently... So we shall see 👀
you seen your doc clubber ?
Yeah, I know what it is. I'm fine, just frustrating.
Thanks though B. x
Physios can be magic so good luck. Isn’t missing parkrun really annoying? Are we all addicts!?
Oh I really hope he can work some magic for me... And yes, think we are all a bit addicted, if someone had told me back in March that I would be getting up early on a Saturday morning to go run 5k, I'd have laughed my head off! But I just love it, even the stupid hills of doom... 😂
Glad you're getting it sorted Debston! A big shame to be missing park run, but it's definitely best in the long term. It sounds as if maybe you wouldn't enjoy tomorrow's run either, based on your one with your son ☹️
Aww that’s sad news but good you are getting it sorted. What I want to know is who gets a physio appointment the next day and on a Saturday 😳😳😳
My EXACT same thought!!! I live (nearish!) to Debston, so might try to cadge a number!! 😂
Sounds like IT band to me.
Dr mentioned IT band, said it was very tight. I think that's the one that goes all the way to knees, isn't it? And knees are inflamed so that all makes sense.
I'm sure Physio will get you sorted out in no time! I remember a visit to my physio last year and she ran her forearm slowly down my lateral thigh putting even pressure. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry but the relief was amazing. I really enjoy a great physio appointment ... it hurts so good.....and you know you’ve been working those muscles hard. Weird, I know 🤪
Wish I had a doctor who did what your doctor does.
All the best, hope your back soon..
Aw... It’s those Bedgebury Hills, I tell ya’!! As the distances get longer, my heart sinks at the thought of them - in fact, today I swapped it out and ran nearly two loops of the FLAT Tonbridge Parkrun route as my long run instead - no sore calves, no twitchy Achilles... I REALLY hope that you encounter some miracle fingers tomorrow and are fit to be gazelle-like by the time you get to Scotland!! X x
Good luck with the physio tomorrow. Plenty time for Parkruns in the not to distant future. Family over from Oz so no parkrun for me tomorrow either!!
Hope you get good results from visiting the physio 😊
I hope you feel better soon, a bit of physio will see you right x
Hope to hear you are on the road to recovery very soon .. from Brussels
Just a gentle reminder that if you are on the IC, you can still do parkrun! Volunteers are always needed to keep it running (forgive pun) and injured souls are able to join in the fun and comradeship just by being there and joining in. Be-it marshalling, time keeping (my personal favourite) or barcode scanning or anything else that needs doing at your local parkrun.
Volunteers always welcome and what a glorious feeling when you do it!
So do volunteer if you cannot run, it is a great feeling (and made me cry first time!)
B
I hear you, BarbieW but my appt is at 9.40 and I can't be in two places at once. I will definitely volunteer soon, the volunteers absolutely make the whole event so brilliant. ☺ (I might cry if they put me on scanning duty though, not sure I could cope with the responsibility!)
I have needed sports physios twice this year and they have been brilliant. Loosening up tight areas and daily exercises to prevent recurrence. It is amazing what they can do. 😊
Hopefully the Physio will get things sorted for you... I have my (final... I hope) appointment next week...
Take it really steady you know all the runs will wait for you... they are really good at that !!
Take care my friend
How did the physio go Debston?
Poor Debston! It is frustrating isn't it? Good luck with the physio though - they are fabulous people!
