Dark chocolate is considered running food!

I’ve been reading up on suggested foods for runners and this has come up a few times! Dark chocolate! Note: minimum 70%

It reduces blood pressure and cholesterol levels and helps with inflammation.

So I went to the supermarket earlier and picked these delights as well as peanut butter, wholewheat pasta, bananas and potatoes.

Here is the full list: Bananas, Oats, Peanut butter , Broccoli, Plain yoghurt, Dark chocolate, Wholewheat pasta, Coffee, Potatoes.

Yum. That’s brilliant. Now I have a justification to eat more chocolate.

OK but the recommendation is 2 or 3 pieces and not the full bar in one go! 😳

That’s a shame. But still, it’s good news for choc fans.

Definitely, this week my concentration has turned to running food and mindful eating, I have yet to post about my sufferings! 🤓

Love chocolate JaoJao, not sure if it's good as a healthy food, more of a treat after a run, however, those in the photo look good and not too sugary or fatening.

These are quality I assure you. I’ve always read the labels carefully on all my foods. I brought 3 bars so I have a supply for a couple months, the idea being I’ll have a small piece or two whenever I need that little boost and it will hopefully keep me away from cakes, biscuits, doughnuts etc. Win win!

my dad eats dark chocolate, he's allowed it even though he's diabetic

I used to have a mexican recipe with chicken and chocolate, can't find it now though

Dark chocolate does not have any added sugar maybe that’s why, tons more quality than the confectionary milk chocolate bars.

Ah yes I know what you are referring to it’s ‘mole sauce’ a mix of chocolate and peppers used on chicken dishes. I did a foodie tour in Mexico many years ago now, that came up a few times!

I discovered this too. So now me and hubby have been taste testing all the different brands and concentrations. Least favourite is Bournville. Favourite us M&S 91% 😊. Now I’ve got another reason to run 😂

Ohhh I love anything M&S, good shout. I hope you are practising the art of moderation hehe!

Green and Black

M&S

Lindt

I’m polishing off a bar I brought back from Peru from the Choco Museum which falls under Artisan chocolate.

So much fun!

Yes I treat myself to 1 or 2 squares a day - 70% plus has less sugar so ok for my type 2 diabetes (in those quantities!). 🍫
