I have one of those difficult days today, but the weather was so bad yesterday, and the forecast isn't good for tomorrow either, so I went for a run in the dark at 6:45.
Fortunately I have one of those strap-on headlight/tail-light things that both illuminates the road ahead and warns sleepy drivers of my presence, important running on country lanes.
The weather was very good, cold, but dry, and everything conspired to encourage me to go.
I love running in the dark, and I enjoyed the gradual brightening of the sky behind the mountains. Now off to the busy day....
Hope you are all having fun.
ToF.

Due to life etc I am always out very early in the dark on my local country lanes, and I find it very restorative and cathartic, although I will be so glad as the days get brighter! Well done on getting out and running, it will set you up nicely for the day
I love it too, when I can recover my lost post from last night from the ether, I will upload it, I was wondering if it was just me, I'm a night person so I go in the evenings π
First of let me congratulate you TOF for running 58 parkruns, that is an amazing achievement, I am sure that you have enjoyed them all, I have a long way to go to get my 50 T shirt as I have only ran 14 Parkruns.
Good run for you this morning, I admit that I have never ran in the dark, however, I do know a route in a park only 3 minutes away from where I live which has lights although most of the run routes I do are more in isolated places around a loch and through woods which are unlit.
I am glad that you are having fun, I certainly amπππΎ
Congrats on your mental resolve running on dark country roads. πββοΈπ¦I'd want to be lit up like a christmas tree and head to toe flourescent clothing!
It helps to live a long way from anywhere. In 30 minutes I saw only one vehicle. Not sure I'd be so keen if there were lots. But you are right, you need the right illumination kit.
Iβve just ordered a beanie with front and back lights. I donβt run in the dark very often, but it has to be better than the iPhone torch when Iβm away from the streetlights.
I have a led lenser H7r2 with front and rear lights and my dog has a ledko blue flashing light on her so we can be seen
It's often cooler and peaceful on a night
We had a barn owl take flight and stay along side us the other night for about 600m before it turned off into the woods again it was lovely to see some nature and made the run even nicer
It's Summer here in New Zealand but the mornings are already getting darker, I run early when its dark and the sun comes up while I'm running. It's quiet and peaceful and sometimes seems like I have the world to myself
